4 out of 5 stars Decent fighting stick,

If you're like me, when hear of Mad Catz you think cheap knock off. However, after recently re-branding their product quality this is not to be compared to their older products and business philosophy.Pros - You can use this on your lab or stand/table, buttons are very responsive, several modes to choose from(?buttons on, flash when hit or lights off), I button to lock out the start or select button(just in case your one to hit them during a match) fully mod-able without voiding your warranty, design is very slick, A lighted push button to unlock the inner compartment which holds your cord(which is very long), game, has an additional padded compartment which two spare arcade button, and miniature screw driver and allen wrench to use to mode your stick. There is a metal plate on the bottom to give the stick it's weight.Cons - $200 price tag( I would say it's worth more around $150 for a fair price, but $200 isn't to bad, The worst con is there is no option to input your mic or head phones(Don't know how this was missed) big mistake in the design, you'll have to use the kinect to speak)...,I wish the plastic was a little thicker on the stick case, you can't manually turn on the xbox from the fight stick when plugged in(you have to unplug the USB and replug it back in to reset the fightstick if it becomes unresponsive when first turning the system on, the artwork on the front could be better(however, Mad Catz offers free template to download from there site of the initial 6 characters, Killer Instinct log and blank template, which you can download print and mod onto your stick be sure to invest in high quality print and paper when copy downloaded file.Overall, If your a KI fan, Fighting gamer, and or love the feeling of playing on an arcade this is a must purchase. I highly recommend this fight stick(just wish there was a mic jack)

4 out of 5 stars Best fight stick on the Xbox One but...

This is THE best fight stick on the XBox One...but that's because as of this writing, there are no other options. Mad Catz is coming out with a standard, non-KI Tournament 2 which is essentially this stick without LED buttons. Razer is also working on a stick, but other than there being a press release, nothing more is known about it. If Razer does an Atrox equivalent, then the competition will be fierce between Mad Catz and Razer. That all being said, there is one thing to be aware of - this stick DOES NOT allow you to use a headset for communication. This is a HUGE oversight, and the only reason I dropped a star on this review. You can still chat through Kinect or through your wired controller, but that will eat battery and it will shut off every 10-15 minutes, which is obnoxious. The other reason for dropping the score is that this stick uses a USB cable on one end, and a proprietary connector on the other. I understand the utility of what they've done and appreciate it, as the end that plugs into the stick actually screws in - no way that's getting ripped out. On the other end, the USB side that's plugged into the Xbox One has a quick disconnect, so if someone trips, it'll...potentially pull your system down or will quickly disconnect. The reason I don't like this is because the cable, if you are traveling with your stick for a tournament, isn't easily replaced. You can't just go buy a USB cable locally and be back up and running, you need to buy from Mad Catz. Assuming they even offer replacements. What this stick does well, outside of the chat capability, is everything. The stick is a Sanwa Japanese style ball top/"lollipop" stick (JLF for those that want that information) and the buttons are all Sanwa buttons, so they are sensitive to light presses. The LED lighting is red, so in a dark room it's not overly distracting, but I turn it off.The weight is heavy. But that means it doesn't move around easily, and if you put it on a table or other surface, it's not going anywhere. The bottom is all metal, with a "durable" foam base. I say "durable" because with only a few months use, I'm not sure how durable this will be over the long run, but so far, so good.In terms of modification capability, you aren't likely to find an easier to mod controller. The stick is simple to open. You lift up on the top portion of the stick and there it is. That shouldn't make you think it will pop open while you play - won't unless you break it or someone breaks it. Inside, all of the cabling is color coded and has quick disconnects so that you can easily pop a button or 8 out, and replace them simply with your preferred buttons or stick. Also included is a little sticker that tells you what color wire goes to what button, so if you do rip all of the buttons out and forget what color plugs into what button, it's right there for you.You can also lock out the Menu and View button so you don't accidentally press them, which during a competition will automatically disqualify you (for the menu button at least).Overall this stick is rock solid, robust and works like a charm. Another option, if you have a stick you already like for the PS3 or 360, there is also the Cronus Max device that will allow for cross platform support. I would only recommend this if you are playing at home, as the Cronus Max is not tournament friendly. I wouldn't even recommend the Cronus Max over this stick if it offered voice capability (you can't use voice with Cronus Max as well).Pros:Easy to modifyRock solidJapanese style stick and buttons (con if you don't like them and prefer the American "bat" style and buttons)Works natively with XBox OneCons:CostNo voice communication capabilityProprietary connection on the USB cable Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Amazing

Love everything about this stick, it truly is top notch, I was a little scared at first after reading some reviews that said the plexi made it feel cheap and flimsy, but I'm glad to say that is NOT true, yes some parts are plastic (unlike old gen madcatz stick that were mostly metal) but it doesn't feel like it will break, I was lucky to get it at retail price (don't buy from ripoff sellers, just wait til amazon restocks) and amazon support was really nice, they were quick and kind, no complaints there, although with DHL it's a different story, they made a mistake and sent my stick to S.Korea (it was to be delivered on Mexico) if it hadn't been for that I would've gotten the stick sooner, but everything worked alright and now I'm blasting ultras online like there's no tomorrow, highly recommend this stick, just don't drop it through a flight of stairs and you'll be alright.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best purchases I have made.

I do not have a ton of experience when it comes to analyzing and comparing different fightsticks and odds are there are reviews out there who could go on about the several fightsticks they own and their individual differences. But I am going to share my practical view of this fightstick hoping it maybe useful to some of you on the fence. Before getting the KI TE2 I had played traditional arcade cabinets and even borrowed a 360 stick once, but never made the leap to owning one myself until last winter. Like most, I wanted to see what my options where before buying. With the Xbox One fresh off the shelves, at the time the only stick available was solely made my Mad Catz.Mad Catz hasn't always been a quality peripheral producer but they have turned things around. Professional and high ranking fighting game players now use and/or get sponsored by Mad Catz and the brand is making a name for itself as a standard for fightsticks. As far as I know Mad Catz fightsticks are always approved to use at tournaments big and small. So if you ever do to find yourself wanting to compete in any tournament you don't have to buy a separate stick.Basic Physical Features-The button spacing feels slightly different from the usual stick/cabinet but it's easy to get use to.-LEDs look great and can be turned on, off, and adjusted for brightness by holding the button.-Bell top stick feels smooth on inputs.-Buttons work perfectly just needing light presses without strain.-Start and Select are both lockable-Non-slip padding on the bottom works amazing in keeping it put. Great for lap and table.-Latch button on the front makes it easy to open up the stick with no hassle.-Everything from can be modded. Buttons, joystick, art, swapping to octagonal, etc.-The inside has a slot to keep the cord when not in use along with a screw driver and 3 spaces for replacement buttons.-Button wires can be easily swapped by puling and plugging them into your desired buttons.-Top side has notches for a carrying strap.-Cord isn't too shortAll plastic, yet incredibly durable. I fell off a chair at my buddy's house and the corner of the stick actually chipped his wood floor without leaving a scratch on the fightstick. Why I bought itCurrently, the only Xbox One game the KI TE2 fight stick will work with is Killer Instinct. But I bought it with the intention of using it for future fighting games for Xbox One down the road. What most reviewers either don't know or neglect to mention you CAN also use it on PC. Just download the Xbox One driver from Microsoft (Which is free) on your PC and you are good to go.(With the current driver for some reason it doesn't recognize the LT and RT inputs with all Xbox One controllers but you can switch the cords for LB and RT then remap in game to allow you to play with the standard six buttons fine. Plus they are going to fix this in the next driver update.)Cons in General-The default artwork sucks but like I said that can be changed out.-It does have some weight to it.-Button distances from each other is a little further apart but it isn't significant enough to have an effect.-Though it has notches for a carrying strap it does not come with a strap and for $200 it should. You'll have to either improvise with a guitar strap or something if you plan on bringing on the go often. I bet there is a special fightstick strap online if you are hard pressed but I personally didn't bother.-It's $200-NOT backwards compatible for Xbox 360 on it's own and I know for those looking to buy a new stick, not being able to play the more popular Xbox 360 games is an issue, especially for new fightstick owners.Though it sounds crazy. Don't let that initially jerk you away if.HERE'S WHYAs said earlier you can use the KI TE2 for PC.What's surprising is that a Steam PC fighting game community actually exists and continues to grow. If you have a decent computer you can run fighting games that are now on PC like Ultra Street Fighter IV,King of Fighters, Blaz Blue, Skull Girls, Mortal Kombat, and xTekken. (Your 360 fightstick will also work on PC after downloading the Xbox 360 driver)ORYou buy a Cronus max online for $60 which will allow you to use the KI TE2 on any console you want.Because of both I only need one stick for all my needs.tl;drSumming upIt's good quality though a bit pricey but still not too bad for what you are getting.I recommend it for those who want a second stick for the next gen and also for looking to own there first stick.
