Who sells CTR: Crash Team Racing

Description

PlayStation owners no longer need to borrow their friend's Nintendo 64 in order to have a rollicking good old time racing virtual turbo-charged go-karts through outlandish environments. Crash Team Racing does an excellent job of re-creating that same thrill on the PlayStation. Crash Team Racing has all the marks of the kart-racing genre, including big-headed characters driving diminutive go-karts, power-ups to increase speed and slow down opponents, and thematic tracks with multiple paths for exploration. What CTR adds to the mix is fairness: tighter-turning cars are rewarded for precision driving, skillful jumping, and strategic placement of booby traps. Sure, the playing field is level, but the better the driver, the better chance he or she has of winning consistently without any annoying "catch-up code." The one-player game is wonderfully presented as an exploratory adventure, while the multiplayer mode is a split-screen must-play for anyone with a PlayStation (and, of course, friends). Twenty-five tracks, 12 characters, and responsive control make CTR the gotta-have racing game. --Jeff Young Pros: Excellent kart control, including power slides, hops, and wheelies Wide tracks encourage passing High replayability, especially in multiplayer mode Cons: Characters aren't as cute as those in Mario Kart

5 out of 5 stars CRASH TEAM RACING - If you don't have it...GO GET IT!

I bought this game 3 days ago and I have played it for probably about 20 hours in those three days. The graphics are amazing with no draw-ins or flaws to be found. The tracks are varied so you never get bored and the game play never seems repetitive. Once you win a race (in Adventure mode; there are about 6 different modes of play and you can choose the difficulty level) you have to go back over the same track to obtain the letters 'C' 'T' and 'R' and win the race again; once you are through with that you go back and try to win a "gem" by having an amazingly quick time. Once you win four races you race the boss one on one. With all of this to do the replay value seems endless. This is by far my favorite racing game (a lot more fun than Gran Turismo) and favorite game overall for the time being. If you don't have this game - GET IT! If you have this game - stop reading this and go play it!

5 out of 5 stars CTR - great fun racing game (mario kart for the playstation)
"garfielde6"

This game is one of those great games that are fun to play with family and friends, and the one that you always end up playing over-and-over. It's great for people who like Crash Bandicoot games or just like to have fun. It has many great features such as: aventure-race through worlds to collect trophies, talismans, and relics to enter boss races, championships, etc. arcade- 1 or 2 player: the racing with other characters in one of different 25 tracks or a cup race. plus you get to shoot the other racers with rockets, bombs, trap them, ram them, hit them, push them off the road, almost anything you want. vs. - 2player game with only each other to trick and beat this time. battle(a 2-player game) - great!!! battle it out in an area where players can shoot each other with boms or rockets, ram each other, using all the powerups, trap each other onto tnts, etc.A great game for people of any age!!

5 out of 5 stars The best race game I have ever played
"metalbeast"

This game has it all! Great graphics (some of the best I have seen on the playstation), good sound (not annoying), awesome playability, good learning curve, longevity and a sense of humor. This game is suitable for just about everyone, regardless of skill level or age. The easy controls, wide range of fun characters and cartoony graphics will appeal to younger gamers, but it is sufficiently challenging for the older gamer. Completing the game is a little too easy (I finished Arcade mode and Adventure mode within a month, and I'm not exactly a great gamer) but the time trials, relic races and multiplayer modes will keep even advanced gamers coming back for more.I have played many racing games on the Playstation, Dreamcast and N64 including Wipeout 3, Micro Machines V3, Mario Kart, Wave Race 64, SnowBoard Kids and Diddy Kong racing, but this game beats them all.Naughty dog did a great job on this game, just like they did on the previous Crash games.I would recommend this game to anyone who owns a Playstation.

5 out of 5 stars "CTR: Crash Team Racing": Sticking Mario in the back seat
Goober

There's no doubt about it. "CTR: Crash Team Racing" is a ton of fun, and is the best racing game on ANY console. That's right, you heard me. The BEST.Developed by Naughty Dog, "CTR: Crash Team Racing" features 8 characters: Crash Bandicoot, Dr. Neo Cortex (Crash's enemy), Tiny Tiger and Dingodile (Cortex's henchmen), Coco (Crash's sister), N. Gin (Cortex's lab assistant), Polar (Crash's pet polar bear cub), and Pura (Coco's pet Bengal tiger cub). You can also unlock 7 other characters who are hidden in the game: Ripper Roo (a psychotic kangaroo in a straitjacket), Papu Papu (a grumpy Indian chief), Komodo Joe and Pinstripe (more of Cortex's henchmen), Fake Crash (Crash's evil twin), N. Tropy (the master of time), and the mysterious, super-secret character Penta Penguin. Each character has his/her own special strengths and weaknesses. The game spans across 18 race tracks -- 15 of which are named after the 15 racers (the other three are generic). Some track themes include a beach, a cave, a mine, a pyramid, a castle, a laboratory, a canyon, a sewer, and even through a system of underwater tubes!Trust me, this is one game you wanna play. Even if you're not familiar with Crash, you'll still enjoy it. Hands down fun.

5 out of 5 stars Sure it's another mascot racing game, but it's the best out!

It would be an understatement to say I was pessimistic when news first came in on Naughty Dog's last Crash Bandicoot video game. Every nasty thought I ever had about the title vanished the second I popped it in. Naughty Dog has managed to keep the traditional Crash Bandicoot flavor while retaining the tried and true formula of the recent onslaught of mascot racers. (i.e. Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing and the upcoming South Park Rally) First of all the graphics are, while not as eye-popping as say, Final Fantasy VIII, still manage to drop jaws. There are more than a few nicely done effects in this game that I'm sure will leave you staring wide eyed at your television screen. Of course, like all other racers like it, CTR is packed to the teeth with weapons that aren't exactly wholly original, are exciting nontheless. Another nice feature about this game is the racing itself. Instead of putting a "deathlock" on the gas and simply navigating through the level at hand, the game requires you to actually "race", something most arcade racers don't put much of an emphasis on. Last but certainly not least, is the incredibly entertaining multiplayer mode. You'll make the best of this game by dusting off you're ancient Multitap and gathering three friends to play with. If you enjoyed Mario Kart 64 and DKR and you have a Playstation, don't hesitate and buy this game.
