No Japanese 360, No Problem! It still works!

I must say that this is my favorite Cave shmup to date. The game is region free and works flawlessly on my North American 360. The box and instruction manaul are in Japanese however the "in game menus" are in English. (well for the most part) Navigation will be easy. I must say that if you are a fan of Cave shooters, this is a no brainer. I use my SFIV tournament edition stick and feel it can't get any better.I hope more region free shmups come to the US.

Mushihimesama Futari is a port of the arcade shmup by developer CAVE, and the sequel to the original Mushihimesama. This release is region free and will work on North American consoles. Note that if you find a 360 game called "Mushihimesama" without the "Futari", that's the first game in the series and not the same game as this one.The menu can be a bit confusing at first. Navigate around and you may find options you missed at first, such as how novice mode is hidden in the arrange mode area.Gameplay is similar to other CAVE shmups. You fly around, destroying everything in your path while collecting gems, and dodge enemy bullets to stay alive. Mushihimesama Futari has an organic theme, which features giant insects, killer plants, and aquatic assailents. You can choose between two characters, riding either a giant beetle or a dragon.The Mushihimesama series is most notable for the bullets. They are pink. There are lots of them. And they're lethal to touch. On higher difficulties the screen sometimes has more pink than background. Yes, this is the game with that infamous "hardest boss ever" video, however don't let that scare you away because it only looks like that when you play it on the hardest difficulty.Once you start the game, you'll have three choices that decide the style of gameplay: Original, Manic, or Ultra (or God, of you're playing Black Label DLC). Original has faster bullets, with a scoring system based on using the correct shot-type based on your current gem count. Manic has slower bullets, but many more of them, and uses a cash-in system to convert the gem counter to point items. Ultra is the extreme mode, where enemies vomit bullets in gigantic quantities.Arrange mode is a slightly different version of the game. You can switch characters in and out, and the inactive character defends the active one. This is a cool extra and worth checking out if you need a break from playing the regular game.The first printing came with a DLC code that unlocks 1.01 mode (the platinum collection is not the first printing and will not come with a DLC code). This is an older build of the arcade game, with slightly different bullet patterns and enemy arrangements. It's a nice extra, but more of a curiosity than an awesome must-have. Same product, lower price for excellent next-gen shmup
L'Etranger

I picked this up for $34 from a game importer as soon as it came out and have been playing it for the past two weeks. Suffice to say, it is highly addictive; I've only been playing it on normal level and have yet to complete it. Great colour scheme and graphics, catchy music score, challenging gameplay that'll keep you going for hours and days. I WISH more games like these came out. Get it from yesasia or play-asia if you're looking to buy this on-line as they list the lowest price for this game.

The game is fun, The menu is mostly in English so it is not hard to navigate. The game is real hard on maniac and ultra mode. Recommend this game if you like arcade vertical scrolling shooters.

This is in my opinon the best Cave shooter that we got last gen that is playable in a Western system.I would say more, but honestly this is a must buy/import.If you are unsure which Cave shooter to start out with, this is it.If you can only import ONE Cave shoter, THIS IS IT
