3 out of 5 stars Pac-Man in 3D? An interesting experience...
Jessie P. Matte

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures is a re-boot of the Pac-Man IP. It's Pac-Man in a 3D, platforming environment. There are some elements from the original game (chomping ghosts, collecting power pellets, collecting the iconic fruit, etc.).Is it fun? Well, it's not horrible. It's definitely not the best game that you'll ever play. The controls are decent, but, from time to time, you'll be fighting the camera, and the game will get very repetitive. It's not a difficult game. If you're a fan of all that is Pac-Man, you'll probably like it.Overall, I give it 3 / 5 stars and recommend it to both fans of the Pac-Man franchise, and for any kid that you want to introduce to a gaming icon.

2 out of 5 stars Are you sure Pac is back??

Pac-Man seems to have a hard time gaining a mainstay recognition from games that AREN'T the arcade classics. How many of you guys remember when Pac-Man was hopping, bopping, and using a grappling hook in the Super NES game, Pac-In-Time? Or when he was busy trying to right his 25th birthday gone wrong? If there was one thing Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures tried to get out there, it's that Pac-Man is alive and kicking, and ready to appeal to a new generation of fans. So...what happened? Why is the result a generic children's cartoon featuring all the usual tropes of generic children's cartoons? I even saw a couple episodes, and my opinion still stuck with me.It's interesting that this Pacworld takes place in a futuristic setting that's NOT apocalyptic for once (Never thought I'd see that again!), and that Pac is in high school (I'm 17 at this time). Unfortunately, the cartoon fails to capitalize on anything, and just plays it safe with the typical characteristics of a kids show.So how is the VIDEO GAME tie-in?I was highly concerned about it, considering I really enjoyed the Pac-Man World games. They were 3D platformers that were short, but sweet and full of life. Well, actually, Pac-Man World 3 was a different story, but that one was still enjoyable. That game had a speaking adult Pac-Man whose voice is pretty neat actually, and the interaction/dialogue, while a teeny bit cluttered, surprisingly provides some genuine laughs.Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures throws all that out of the frickin' window! It's still a 3D platformer where you go from point A to point B, yes, but the entire game is so...so...SOULLESS!No offense to the voice actors, but the voices provided for both this game and the cartoon make me outright cringe, especially poor Pacster here. Thankfully, there's an option to mute the voices entirely, but then what's left in the audio department is a soundtrack full of uninspired and forgettable orchestrated tunes. What happened to catchy soundtracks that you can hum or bop your head to? Heck, I even prefer PMW3's orchestra over this - At least its music was still memorable in some way.Anyway, let's get down to the actual meat of the game. What's confusing is that the game really doesn't PLAY badly at all. Pac-Man controls just fine, and there's an unexpected amount of power-ups to play with. The problem, however, is that everything is so ungodly by-the-numbers it just feels like you're going through the motions rather than actually being engaged. The levels do not stick out and feel quite bland and dull. Those two adjectives describe the game as a whole, really.I probably would've given this game a higher chance, but again, Pac-Man has triumphed in this very genre a number of times before! And I will always come back to those games because they are FUN, something this game purely lacks. And despite the fact that the game is not really difficult, this game has been incredibly difficult to stay on course with. I've picked up and put down this game too many times before writing this review. And I only end up finishing a level or two when I do play it.Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures is meant to deliver Pac-Man goodness to a new generation of fans out there, but rather than doing that, this, in conjunction with the cartoon, questions the dot muncher's relevance anymore. 3 out of 5 stars A solid, but short platformer

Up to this point, I never heard of this incarnation of the TV show. It is apparently shown on Disney XD, so this was my first experience with both the show and now the game. That being said, I don't believe this game isn't bad, but it is very short and easy. The game is strictly a plat former, so your job is to make it from point A to point B without dying. There are some puzzles to figure out and getting an idea of how to get from one platform to the next, even some boss fights to go through, but none of them are a pain to go through. In fact, it's hard to die at all, unless you aren't that used to the controls by the time you finish the first world.Speaking of worlds, there are a total of six worlds to go through, the last three being mere repeats of the original worlds, but designed differently. Of course, in the way of your advancing through these worlds are traps, platforms, and definitely evil ghosts that roam relentlessly in pursuit of Pac-Man. Thankfully, Pac-Man can not only chomp his way through them, but also sneak by them or, if you prefer, freeze or burn them, thanks in part to the super-powers Pac-Man earns throughout his adventures. In short, the graphics are colorful enough for the eye to see, the gameplay is fun for a short while, and there's a little bit of replay value to go on. But after getting all the arcade tokens, fruits, beating the campaign, along with the mini arcade games found inside the school (which acts as your base of operation), there's not much left to do in the game. Multiplayer is flat-out boring and you won't find much competition that would even want to touch it. Thankfully, no achievements/trophies are meant to be unlocked via those means, so that's a good thing. You're better off renting it instead of buying it!

My son loves this game. He has hours of fun. Great graphics. A lot different to the Pacman I used to play. The black background with the white dots. Excellent new game.

I love pacman and even though this is not the original it is still a lot of fun! If you like pacman and do not mind a little more challenges along with a story line then this is for you! For those of you who remember PS2's Pacman worlds it is very similar to that!

5 out of 5 stars My son loves this...

My 8-going-on-18 son loves this game. It exceeded his expectations. It's certainly Sonic-esque, and entertaining as a run-and-eat kind of game.
