So there's been a lot of drama surrounding the Ps4 launch, a lot of reviews and a lot of negativity but let me clear the air.UPDATE:-Vita/Remote play companion review: Alright let me get started by saying I do own a Vita and have for awhile but reluctantly and admittedly it had been my least played console(among my PC, 360, Ps4, 3DS, and Ps3). Until I found out that in fact it could actually play my Ps4 from another room over local wifi. Be that your router's connection or the Ps4's very own wifi direct link. Now I tried over my router's connection and found it unsatisfactory due to my place's setup, and connection speed(trust me it's bad, satellite internet). But when I tried it over the Ps4's direct link.. BOOM. If you own both a Vita and Ps4 you basically can game on your Ps4 anywhere in your house/apartment. I'm sitting in my recliner maybe 45 ft. away from my Ps4 getting collectibles in AC4. It's incredible. Now what they did here is mildly change the button setup to suit the Vita's functionality and feel. So you'll likely find the R2 and L2 on the back touchscreen which is kind of awkward at first but nothing that is insurmountable. And again to get your head around it I can game from my bed through multiple walls on my Ps4 from my Vita. To get it started you link your Ps4 and Vita together through serial numbers something like you'd do through bluetooth pairing. It's fast and with the standby mode on the Ps4 system you can wake up the Ps4 with your Vita from the link app on the Vita. I say farther in the review that Res0gun is one of the best reasons to own this system right now. I'll tell you now that this is THE reason to own it right now, if you own Vita as well. It is truly a revelation and something that has brought life to my former neglected console. The best thing(for me at least) was that this was a surprise! This is the next gen, and this will be on all games brought to the Ps4(excluding Move titles). So look forward to the Vita/Ps4 bundle that is coming eventually, and is already out in Europe. My full review of the system follows, enjoy!ORIGINAL REVIEW:1.) System: The Playstation 4 system came in a box with plenty of bubbles and minimal damage to the outside shipping box. Shipping came 2 days early. Out of the box the System impressed and mine doesn't "wobble". Just like every new system I have I set the system up on a laptop cooling fan plugged into the USB. It's angular look set it apart from my Ps3, and 360. It also complimented my satellite box. I believe it will compliment just about any set up, actually. The disc tray is tray-less, meaning it feeds in the Blu-Ray disc instead of pushing out a tray to place a disc. As for the DOA blinking light subject it seems a lot of users here experienced I didn't encounter it. The system blinks blue when turning on, and connecting or trying to. It displays orange in sleep mode, and puts out a white light while in play. In a dark room the white light really stands out and is quite luxurious when it comes to looks, but is not distracting. Make sure your HDMI is firmly plugged in when setting up this system because the blue light blinking can be caused from a loose port or improper placement of said HDMI as your Ps4 tries to connect, but fails. Hence the blinking light.2.) Controller: The Dualshock 4 is a sleek, unbridled improvement of its predecessor. Though firmly still set in the tradition of past Playstation controllers the DS4(I'll call it) improves the most in one area: comfort. The "handles" of the controller are a half inch longer than the DS3 and offer a more wedged feel. A sort of grip is added also on the bottom. It feels great in the hands, and I'm a 6 '4 tall lanky fellow. Given the great feel the greatest performance based improvement I've seen is in the sticks and triggers. The sticks have a concave lip on them now and the dead zones have almost completely been eliminated. You really feel like the sticks won't let you down in a twitch firefight with your friends/opponents. The triggers are gorgeous too, though I'd say if you loved the 360's controller like I did(and I'm trying to eliminate as many comparisons to other consoles as possible) you would be hard pressed to say the Ps4's are better. Don't get me wrong, the triggers are better, drastically so from the DS3, but that's just how bad the Ps3's were(for me). New tech also hits this controller this gen, like most, and it comes in the way of a spanky new, barely used(right now) touchpad. It can be depressed like a button and it's easy to get to from the sticks making it a charming new addition that doesn't feel like a gimmick whatsoever. The idea and potential with this new addition is truly great when it comes to input to games, but so far it's limited to button presses(Madden timeouts) and simple swiping techniques(Killzone "OWL" commands). I'm very interested where Devs decide to take the touchpad this gen, and hope it makes a return in future consoles. There's a "share" button added, which to put it simply lets you share your gaming times with friends, and family even fans through social sites. My favorite part of this addition is the screenshot. I have been wanting console screenshots for generations and its finally a reality I can't tell you how many times I've been in game with a beautiful setting and had to take a crummy cellphone photo instead of getting a good 1:1 picture. The "Option" button in summation takes the place of the start button this gen taking you to the menus in games. The light bar, well what can i say about it, it stays on, identifies players, and shines in the night. Wish I had the Camera that the system uses or I'd have more to say on this subject. There's also a new speaker and audio output on the controller. You can plug in almost any headset into the controller and get game audio, its a beautiful addition and is a treat for night gaming when the gf is asleep. The speaker is the most "meh" thing I have to comment on about the controller. So far, its been a dud in terms of amount of usage in games, and the way the ones that do use it, use it. Not really impressed there. Moving on!3.) Games: The games I got with the console, including downloadables. Assassins Creed: 4, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Madden: NFL 25, Flower, Resogun. Resogun: The best of these games I have played so far is Resogun, almost hands down. This action, arcade shooter puts you in a space ship on a quest to save the last of the humans and doesn't let go. This game is addicting and will keep you up late trying to beat your friend's high scores, no doubt the value will attract a lot of you! It's free with PS plus as of now, so there's no reason for you not to play one of the best reasons to own this system right now. Flower: I would classify this game in the leagues of The Last of Us and Journey, it's less a game and more of an experience and one that you will probably want to play after work, or stressful event. It's utterly relaxing in almost every meaning of the word. Madden: NFL 25: This game, since I've played the versions of it on last gen(360) impressed me the least. The physics make an impressive improvement, and the quarterback position is made easier because of the better blocking up front making for a more realistic pocket. The graphical improvement is marginal, though the helmets will surely impress you. You won't buy this game for the helmets, though I'm sure. What you will buy it for is the always AMAZING couch coop, and it is great fun for any party, or get together. KillZone: Shadow Fall: The story of SF(I'll call it) is better than 3 to be certain and its multiplayer livens up quite a bit. The new color palette is extremely refreshing, and brings in your eyes with its impeccable ambiance and sheer graphical prowess. With a game looking like this right out of the gate for Ps4 I'm extremely excited to see what other studios happen to accomplish. Assassin Creed: 4: Unfortunately I've spent the least amount of time with this game out of the few I've managed to get my hands on. It would be better, if looking to buy this game, to rely upon someone with more time than I. Look to the game's reviews here they convinced me to get it. Moving on!4.) Potential/Future: All in all the system has exceeded my expectations and will have a lengthy stay in my living room. Social features, an improved controller, and intense hardware functionality shows great future proofing of this console by Sony. With the demand that I'm seeing for this thing it is indeed a return to the days of the Ps2. If I could sum up everything about this I would say value and quality have been met in a tiny, exquisite package called the Ps4. Any questions, just leave them in the comments. Thanks for reading! Unit arrived on time and in expected condition. Checked the HDMI connector and cable for any defects and saw none. Unit powered up promptly without incident and setup also was smooth. PSN, Store, Digital Games, Disc Games, Blu-Ray and streaming all work as expected. System and game updates worked just fine. Controller had about half charge out of the box (not suprising); but, reached full charge in expected amount of time. Sadly, the wifi does not support 5ghz (only 2.4ghz); but, the connection speed is still fine (faster than my internet connection). Don't know if the 5ghz can be enabled via software at a later time (depends on chip and antenna support). In short... I'm happy with the PS4!

A major improvement over the Playstation 3 in every possible way. I've had every Nintendo and Playstation console from launch, and I have to say that this may be the most satisfied I've been with a release since the Super Nintendo. The launch games, while mostly shooters, are of a much higher quality than most day one titles. The user interface is sleek, clean, and responsive, and, a few network errors aside, the experience has been stellar thus far.

At first I was a bit skeptical about buying the ps4 after the problems with the ps3 but after about 2 days of use I have nothing to say but good things about this console. Beautiful graphics, fast load times, attractive architecture and an array of other features put this console near the top of my favorite consoles of all time challenging my love of the xbox 360. If you are struggling to figure out whether or not to get one, just do it! You won't regret it.

Unlike others... My console works. I put about 14 hours on it on 1 day.I'm using a 2011 TV ( Panasonic ) and 2011 receiver ( Onkyo ). Also using a Monster HDMI cable I bought back in 2006. My FW has been updated to 1.50 as well.As for the console, I like it. It has promise. The OS needs a fair deal of work and features need to be brought up to PS3 levels. The games are great on the system. So much better looking then last gen. Really excited to see future games.4/5

This is a rating I hope will increase in the future. At Launch the device is ok with future software upgrades it could be awesome. like adding the ability to play 3D Blu-rays etc.

Received it yesterday earlier than the Amazon projected delivery time. That is the first reason I am happy - that it was delivered on time. The unboxing and setup was smooth and quick. I had my PS4 up and running in about 20 minutes.I was able to play for about 4 hours last night. No crashes or glitches in the games (Killzone & Warframe). I like the new UI. It seems cleaner and easier to navigate. The controller is great. Used the touchpad in Killzone without issue. Also, since this was the bundle with PS Plus, I am now a subscriber. Owned a PS3 for 3 years but never bought Plus. I regret that because I missed out on some good deals. Last night, I already picked up an indie game for free.So far, I have no complaints with the PS4. The hardware is slick looking and quiet. Am looking forward to playing more games on it.
