Only get this game IF+ You are a Gundam fan.+ You want to create your own mobile suit by earning the parts.+ You love to play hard levels to get the mobile suit parts.I took away a star becuase of the losing parts if you get killed in a mission.Gundam Breaker is what Dynasty Warriors Gundam 1-3 should have been. This does not have a story mode. You just fight different mobile suit foes and earn parts from them. You are about to create your own mobile suit but be warned if you get killed in missions you will lose parts you earn. I advice you to replay levels to get parts for your mobile suit.If you do not like the three above do not buy this game. One more thing you do not need to learn Japanese to play this game.

This game is pretty fun and easy to get into without knowledge of the japanese language, many actions and options are pretty easy to figure out if you've ever played a videogame before. There are a lot of reviews giving a pretty good description of the game but a couple sentences that don't clarify precisely what the reviewer is trying to say are spreading a bit of misinformation and my review is basically here to clarify those points.1: you do not /need/ to have a japanese PSN account, if you get one you will be able to use and purchase DLC for this game, but even on an american account you will still be able to play both single player and multiplayer missions.2: you do not lose parts in a way most reviews would imply, the way parts are gained is the enemies drop them during missions, if you die during a mission, one of the collected parts is deducted from the list of rewards, your parts, the one you have on your gundam or the one in your storage are not removed at any point. most reviews seem to not clarify this and seem to deduct a star from the review simply due to having a death penalty which just makes it appear even more like you are losing your heard earned parts. Additionally, your do not lose any collected parts for failing a mission without death, and the only way you would lose all your collected components is if you choose to manually quit the mission yourself.Other than that, the game is pretty fun, divided into multiple chapters each one getting progressively more difficult, the gameplay is a mix between armored core and dynasty warriors, build your gundam from different sets of parts like arms, legs, body, head, backpack, multiple weapons and attachements, select your moves, and do missions, missons are divided into destroy everything, defend a marker from attacking enemies, survive increasingly stronger waves of enemies, and battle royale. break enemies for a chance of them dropping one or more of their components so that you can use them in your build.A fairly standard and amusing mindless action game wit ha gundam skin. Awesome game. Making my own Gundam is amazing. 7 hours in, and I have three completely different Gundams. This is the Gundam game I have been waiting for.

For starters, you can download the free "beta" version of this game on the ps3. The beta/demo is really great. In terms of game play, it's like a hack and slash game vs the shooting aspect. This game might not be for you if you rage easily. It is very challenging and your skills are really put to the test. If you want a truly shooter mecha game i recommend to go play armored core or rather Gundam Battle Operations (free 2 play). This game comes with sortie points for Gundam Battle Operations which is a neat shooting Gundam game. Gundam Battle Ops is more objective base featuring destruction of bases, dominating points, as well as killing the enemy to score points, but like all f2p ps3 games there is a limit to how you can play per hour.Okay, back on to this game... This game is a hack and slash kind of like dynasty warriors gundam but not as easy. The enemy have a bit more defense and they have abilities just like your mechs do. The thing that makes the game more enjoyable is the complete customization of your mecha. From head and special attacks to custom paint jobs. Each part has its own attack and has different stats. The armor has a ranking system using stars, 1 being the lowest and 10 to being the highest. Not all parts are the same!!! The game isn't a joke, playing the beta is entirely different than playing the real thing. In the beta once you get to the 3rd mission it becomes increasingly hard to destroy other suits. In the real game, if you are destroyed you will lose parts! Like DWG, this game does support online Co-op!!!It is important to know if you want to play the beta you must have a Japanese psn. There are many videos on youtube that will help aid in the creation of one and how to download the beta+ Gundam Battle Ops. If you decide to pick up this game, you will need the Japanese psn. Also, if you are a die-hard Gundam fan like I am be sure to check out the anime that was created after this game was made called Gundam Build Fighters. Also, importing it on here is a better option than buying it in the Japanese psn (8000 yen = $80) whereas on here you can get a copy for about $30 - $40 less for a brand new copy. Overall, this game will keep you occupied for hours on end. I easily racked up more than 40 hours on the beta because there were still parts i didnt fully get in the game. Read more ›

Before you start the game, MAKE SURE YOU CREATE A PSN JAPAN ACCOUNT ON YOUR PS3! There are dozens of sites on the web teaching you how to do this so I won't cover it here. I play a lot of JDM games so I have a specific user profile linked to the PSN Japan account on my PS3.The game comes with a one-time code only usable on the PSN Japan, once you log the code in you get a bunch of free Gunplas! Hyaku-shiki (Type 100), Freedom Gundam, and one other. There are also free contents for Gundam Breaker that you can download.Another suggestion is that you play online as much as you can early on: you'll gain awesome parts and EXP to increase your OS level so you can kick butt in earlier missions. This is a great game and the price ($49.99) is excellent here - I got it in Japan for closer to $80 :(
