5 out of 5 stars Ready for TITANFALL !
D. Williams

I actually sent my Titanfall controller in for service to add Rapid Fire and the Orange LED.The XboxExpert is an honest guy and he sent back my original controller in prestine condition! This thing looks Sick with the Amber Orange LEDs and this Titanfall Limited Edition Controller even has tighter more precise thumbsticks than the black xbox one controller.I more often than not get the highest score in Titanfall matches thanks to the Rapid Fire mod. Tho it still seems some oponents are shooting faster than 40sps, which is the fastest shots per second this mod can fire. Wish he would add 100 or 200 max sps so I could beat down those that are beating me.Thanks Xbox Expert!

4 out of 5 stars Very close, but not perfect.
John Morrison

I have been using these for about a week. I originally just needed a mic since my son broke mine. I purchased the Gears of War throat mic, and that thing is a pile, not even sure how it made it to market with the below sub-par sound quality. So I retuned it and after mulling over the options I decided on these. They are a bit pricey, but I paid $200 for the Tuetlr Beach x41 and those were worth the purchase a couple years ago. My main complaints with the x41s is that they don't go loud enough for movies, and they do burn through batteries, and you get the occasional interference noises from the wireless. That is the main reason I went with these. They are corded so you don't need batteries, and they go louder than I need them too.The only faults I see with them are these, and they are more of a personal issue than anything else. First is it is corded, cordless is really nice for obvoise reasons. The main cord on these is quite beefy, so it is a bit heavy to be hanging down in you lap. Also the mic/mute control is also beefy. And you also have a small cord plugged into the controller which can be removed if you are not gaming. The controller on the cord is nice as it has a mute, and separate game and chat volume so you can dial them both in. But once I am playing and I am zoned in I don't notice the cords at all, and it is a welcome trad off to not have to use batteries. The sound on these is really good also, they are a bit bass heavy which is nice when gaming, especially in Gears. I had the the x41s were a little light in the bass. Would be better if it had a dial to adjust to your liking. Hearing "Boom" from the Boomer really sets the tone and grabs you in. I can't say if the 7.1 is better than 5.1, but the surround is better on these than on my x41s. Youcan really track the movement of characters in the game. Watching some movies the bass is a bit much, but I would prefer tomuch than to little. It is not over whelming, but it is noticeable.I have put many hours on these this week and only had two times when there was sound issues. One match I had terrible echoes and heard everything I said repeated, which does happen with every other mike I have used. And in one game the bass got extremely overpowered and was distorting like crazy. Was fine in the game till that level, and was fine the next time I turned them on, so I assume it was a fluke.Comfort on these is pretty good, but after a couple of hours they do start to get uncomfortable. The cups could have been a little wider in my opinion. Not so noticeable when gaming, but movies watching when you are not so focused I did notice it more.I would totally give them a try, they are the best all around set in my opinion. If they were wireless I would give them a 5 no problem Read more ›

3 out of 5 stars Gears of War 3 Headset
Drake

I got these to replace the Turtlebeach x4's that I had. They finally gave out so i figured that these would be a great replacement. I got these a few days before Gears of War 3 was released. They have worked great. I hear everything just like I did with the x4's. The only thing that i don't really like is that they are wired. I'm not a big fan of that. I get tangled in the wire and so does my child which is very annoying. I worry that one of these times its going to pull my xbox and everything else down. They sound good, and i can hear all my buddies well. About a week ago the chat cable gave out on me. I could not hear anyone, and they could not hear me. I can still hear the game sounds, just not chat. When I went to order a new cable from Mad Catz they are sold out in the U.S. I ended up going to the local electronics store and getting a cable that works but it cost me $20. Not what I wanted to do after spending almost $200 for the headset in the first place.

4 out of 5 stars Great gaming headset, with one problem
A. Lydiard

I purchased this headset a few months ago and have never looked back. It was my first gaming headset and I love it. The sound quality is superb and the fit is just right. Voice quality out and in is great. My only complaint was the cord that runs from the controller to the headset cord (this allows for voice communication in games) went bad after less than a month. I wrote to Mad Catz but it took them over a month to respond, so I ended up getting a replacement through Amazon (which was painless and easy). Mad Catz finally responded saying they would ship me another cord, but that the specific cord I need is on back order. Other than that, this is a sturdy great headset. If you have the cash to splash, I recommend it highly.EDIT: Originally I said these were not adjustable to bigger heads, but I was wrong as I found out this weekend. It actually will adjust, they are just really tight initially.

5 out of 5 stars Headset
Jose Gabriel Molina

Amazing headphones, worth every dollar. Only thing is they aren't wireless, but the cable is pretty long. LED's look kick ass in the dark.

5 out of 5 stars Pricey, But worth every penny!
Reace's Pieces

Plain and simple. 180 bucks is a very steep price point for a headset. But it's worth it. The sound quality is fantastic, it's built to last, and it just looks pure badass. It even lights up also which is cool if you have friends over! My only complaint is that I recommend you buy a seperate optical cable because the one that comes with it can be flimsy. Which is weird because the rest of the wires and plugs are well protected. Other than that this headset is PERFECT!

4 out of 5 stars All is good...Besides
Bambi

Overall it's a fantastic headset, just with minor problems like that the mic port that connects to the headset had plastic pieces broken off of it. Also, the optical cable was bent at the top. But must have been the one that was dropped or something maybe due to shipping. But besides that it is a headset I highly recommend, especially after hearing the sound of ACIV ship battles... btw (READ the directions if not familiar).

4 out of 5 stars Great for GoW Fans + Headphone Fans Alike
Joshua

This headset is awesome. I have been playing Gears of War since it first came out in 2006 & love the campaigns + multiplayer. Along with these headphones I got the GoW 3 controller which is a great buy as well. The one problem with this is that the HDMI i had plugged into my 360 was a little big, so when I tried to plug the A/V cable that came with this headphone in I accidentally broke my Xbox. I have another one for backup and haven't had a problem since, so be careful not to jam the A/V cable in like me :)

Customer Reviews

3 out of 5 stars , This is as good as it gets for mouse/kb but it's ultimately disappointing.
Shatner

Like most I was very excited to read the reviews and watch the demos. I ordered and installed the product, and set everything up properly. The customer support is great, and the new firmware fixed any small issues the product had with jaggedness. There is no lag, and aiming is, technically, more accurate than is possible with a controller.HOWEVER, I ultimately returned the product. The problem that I haven't seen mentioned is that the main thing that makes using a mouse so much better than a controller simply doesn't translate onto PS3: On a PC, a mouse is LINEAR. If you move the mouse 2 inches to the right your character turns a certain amount. If you move the mouse 2 inches to the right quickly, the character turns the EXACT SAME AMOUNT, he just does it MORE QUICKLY. This is not the case when using a mouse on Black Ops, Medal of Honor, etc. The Eagle Eye basically translates the "mouse is moving to the right" action into "right analog stick is being pushed to the right." This, in theory, works well. However, on the PS3, the speed of your character's turn depends not on the speed that the mouse moves, nor the distance, but on a fixed in game sensitivity. For example, if you set your sensitivity to 2 in Black Ops, your character can only turn at a certain max speed. If you try to swipe your mouse to the right quickly, the PS3 only understands that the right analog stick is being pushed breifly, and your character will barely move. If you move the mouse relatively slowly, the character will turn farther, because the PS3 thinks the right analog stick has been pushed right for a longer period of time. This is the opposite of how it works on PC, and is very disconcerting. This is no fault of Penguin United, it is simply the way the game undertands inputs, and it cannot be changed unless the game has an option to undestand inputs in a linear way, such as the native mous/kb option in UT3. Ultimately, This was very frustrating/confusing, and I wound up losing more firefights trying to fight this effect and my own inutition than I would have if I had simply used the controller.C/N You get to use a mouse and keyboard, but the REASON a mouse and keyboard is better in the first place doesn't really translate. 5 out of 5 stars Don't listen to the bad reviews...
Orlando

The bad reviews on this device may be prior to the 3.0 firmware update/application for the Eagle Eye and/or may be from people who just didn't take the time to calibrate it properly or tweak it.That being said, just as background and setup, I'm a mid-30's gamer who grown up rocking the FPS online PC games all the way back to the original Quake1&2, Wolfenstein and the ever awesome Half Life on those fantastic dial ups. It's ingrained that a keyboard and mouse are the necessary tools for an FPS. I transitioned to the PS3 because of the expense of continually updating my gaming rig each year and in buying the PS3 I've gone though quite a few Keyboard/Mouse setups for it. Most noteable is the SplitFish series of PS3/xBox mouse setups. The SplitFish has it's advantages with an easy plug'n play, but the calibration, adjustments and precision are far lacking in comparison to the Eagle Eye. Moving from one game to the next you find the SplitFish 'feeling' is way different on each game. Now this isn't a review on the SplitFish, but a review on the Eagle Eye. I have had more issues trying to dial in and change and setup the SplitFish to get the PC Game feel and in the end had no luck. The SplitFish will never feel like a PC game setup. Period. I eventually just "lived with it".... until I jumped the CoD line and moved to BF3 where the SplitFish is completely and utterly useless by the stair effect.Being useless I moved onto another Mouse/Keyboard setup and bought the Eagle Eye. I was weary based on some of the review, but I'm happy I bought it. Here, let me say that again in big'ol letters I"M HAPPY I BOUGHT IT. It's far beyond the SplitFish setup.I'm running an older 3500 dpi Razer Deathadder with the Razer Nostromo as my keyboard and, no joke, DonkeyTron! Let me translate DonkeyTron.... yeah, it friggin rocks. The Eagle Eye recognized both hardware and worked perfectly. It's not exactly like playing on a PC, but it is so so very close. You get precise aiming movements and the ability to have all your key command / usage buttons at your finger tips and it was fairly easy to setup and be up and running/playing in minutes with something that will 'work' and 'dominate'. I say that because, you are able to do a pretty quick setup and have the thing working much better than any other keyboard/mouse combos I've tried, but to really get it super dialed in to your preference it takes a couple more minutes to tweak things. (Caveat: I'm super picky about how my hardware performs, so this could just be me.)SETUP: The instructions are a little lacking (box instructions), but the setup is fast and easy. If you're on Linux you're SOL and will have to find a Windows machine. The one thing they leave out of the setup is that the keyboard and mouse that you're going to be using with the PS3 need to be plugged into the windows machine and the drivers HAVE to be installed. For some crazy reason (early morning) I totally missed this and took me 5 minutes to "think" about it.The Eagle Eye comes with the 3.0 firmware and software and it's super easy to setup ad use. Once running, it's a matter of clicking on the PS3 button shown in the wonderful example PS3 controller image (in app) and then clicking the keyboard or mouse button that you want to assign it to. Once that's done, then it's a matter of taking all three devices and hooking them up to your PS3. TaDa!USE: I've had some uber bad stair effect with many mouse/keybaord combos for the PS3, but it's nearly non-existent with the Eagle Eye. In BF3, the SplitFish is almost un-playable, but with the Eagle Eye there's no stair effect - it's smooth, precise and fast.I did run into the 'slow turning' that some people mentioned. If you have you're ingame settings too low then, when you try and 360 spin turn (like you can in PC FPS games) you'll have to pick your mouse up and slide it multiple times. This is just a matter of taking the time to dial in the settings. Once dialed in this is a great product.CONS: Instructions are very short, but then when you run the app there's sidebar instruction that run you through things. Could they be a little more detailed? Yes. Do they give you enough information? Sure.It is wired. The Eagle Eye device, that is. To me, this really isn't a huge con, but it does add some more cords to your gaming setup.PROS: Price.Easy setup.Solid product - doesn't seem like it's going to break.Supported Hardware - the list is very long and includes some great gaming keyboards/mice.Online support - there's a ton of documentation and information online.Multiple Key Mappings - this allows you to setup more than one mapping for the device. e.g. I have two on mine right now. One for BF3 and one for CoD since there's a slight variation in the buttons and I can adjust the aiming speeds for each.PC FPS Feel - well, almost PC feel. It's pretty damn close and I've used almost every keyboard/mouse setup for the PS3. Read more ›

Take your time and do the advanced Calibration several times to tweak it perfect. It takes several games to get the feel just right.. but after you get it calibrated it is pretty close to a PC experience. The major difference is the linear action of a PC mouse and the analog action of the Eagle Eye mouse, you just can not trun around as fast as you can with a PC mouse. It is impossible to replicate it exactly but you can get close. When you set up your keys dont forget the long blank space below the controller that sets your scope mode button for calibration. And after you do advanced calibration for non scope mode, do it again with your player in scope mode. This really allows you to fine tune the players actions while scoped and can make it like shooting fish in a barrel. I played MW3 campaign first and got the feel down then you can go online and it is amazing how most of the controller players look like they are in slow motion. Well worth the 50 bucks if, like me all your friends are scared of PC games and you still want to own them..

I'm a skeptic when it comes to console gaming but after weighing the pros and cons of each console, I went with a PS3. This is my first console since Super Nintendo and I've been really happy with it except for one thing...First Person Shooters. FPSes feel like you are drunk on PS3.It was by accident that I stumbled across a YouTube review of Eagle Eye but for the price it was worth a shot. I am so glad I made the decision to buy it. I've already been cursed at in-game for being such a good shot and went from that guy at the bottom of the scoreboard with 1 kill and 20 deaths to the top 5 every time. I've used it for BF3, Golden Eye, and CoD4. All of them work great with the Eagle Eye.As for finding the correct mouse and keyboard, it worked with a cheap Logitech M310 wireless mouse and GE wireless keyboard I picked up from Target for $15 total. As to the people giving this a negative review, it is either (1) they are too inept to read the instructions and calibrate it correctly, (2) not adjusting in-game sensitivity, or (3) not using a correct mouse or keyboard.Pros: Quick install, faster aiming, compact, and great for PC gamers coming to console.Cons: It has 95% of the feel of a PC game (it still feels a bit off), not compatible with all mice or keyboards, and it will make your wife angry that you spend more time gaming.

Lori Norgard

It fit, but we really have to have the cord just right for it to work and sometimes we have to give up

4 out of 5 stars Works Great. Not quite as advertised.
Kyle Valentine

To me if the item is listed as "by Nintendo" then it should be the original Nintendo product. Especially since the picture is of an official Nintendo Cord. This is NOT an official Nintendo product, it does however work (at least mine did) and thats saying something. These cords are a dime a dozen online and its hard to find ones that work. My last two I purchased had ok audio but faulty video cables. It does the job but not as nice as an official Nintendo one would do.

Completely satisfied with the product, it is well constructed and perfect for my usage. Yep, yep, now I can play Zelda again.

Well, I received a wire for my Nintendo64 but the wire was not what I expected. The items should not be anything other than what is expected of the order. The box where the wire was shipped in came beat up even though I bought it "new".

I happy this nintendo av cable! no from china av cable!I hooked my black gamecube use cheaper av cable from made in china and not look good picture on console!!! i order for "nintendo" brand. got picture awesome!!! and no problem!!! thank you!

Melecio Galarza

I ordered this a week ago and got it on the Monday after, which was faster than what estimated delivery said. It works great, although I was a bit disappointment that it wasn't the Nintendo brand cable even though the description said it was. But I just wonder about the video quality. I'm not sure if it might be cause of my 40 in. Sony tv, the cable, or just because I just don't remember how the games used to look like in my n64 on a small tv. Overall the cable works although I would like to compare it to my old original cable's quality.

I love Skylanders and have many characters. I am confused about this Spring Edition as well as Punk Shock. Trigger Happy got a cool new Easter egg paint job for his Spring Edition but the only difference for Fryno and Punk Shock is the packaging. The characters are exactly the same as the standard releases. if you take them out of package you would never know the difference. Very disappointing.

Why is this considered an Easter edition? The only one that looks anything to do with Easter is Trigger Happy. Wish we had bought just trigger happy.

Where to Buy Resident Evil: Director's Cut

Description

Zombies, an old mansion, and limited ammo. What more could you want? Resident Evil: Director's Cut plunges you into the world of B-grade zombie flicks, and does a first-class job of it. From the cheesy dialogue and voice acting to the confusing camera angles, you'll jump and squirm through a series of mind-numbing puzzles and heart-pounding attacks. The trick is: conserve your ammo, and learn to run. The game is interspersed with movie-style cut scenes that all too often annoy rather than elucidate. The gist of the story is this: you and your special forces teammates have come to investigate the disappearance of the last team, and you have no idea what you're getting into. You spend the rest of the game trying to find your way out of the mansion in which you're trapped. The bottom line: If you like zombie flicks, buy it, play it, love it. And the best part--try blowing the zombie dogs' heads off with the bazooka. --John Cocking Pros: Scary sound, camera angles, horror-movie action Sense of dread, dropping ammo count Zombies Cons: Horrible dialogue Back-tracking for puzzles The bazooka won't blow open a door

5 out of 5 stars One of the Playstation's Finest Games

"Resident Evil: Director's Cut" is great! Not another DOOM-like game where you blow everything to bits, this game is all about survival in an old mansion filled with zombies, mutant dogs, giant snakes, and other horrible mutations. The suspense and atmosphere will have you shaking in your boots, then you'll be scared to death when something goes crashing through a window just when you've calmed down. A must-have title. I even played "Resident Evil 2" first, and it's still a must-have! That's my two cents.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing

This game is only for mature players,yet...I can't get enough of it.It combines a horror flick with cheez-E dye-o-log wit a action packed 3D game with great graphics and puzzels almost impossible to solve without a guide (or plenty of ammo)! I've played RE2 and RE nemesis,But this game still remains the beast in my heart.

Resident Evil: Director's Cut (1997). The PSX re-release of the 1996 survival horror game. Back when the PSX was first released, the system didn't have much in the way of standout games. Of course, there were a few noteworthy PSX launch games like Twisted Metal, Doom, and Tekken, but for the most part, the PSX didn't have anything outstanding yet. Thus, Resident Evil was made. Taking influences from the earlier survival horror series Alone In The Dark, Resident evil took all of its aspects to the next level and eventually became one of Capcom's most successful franchises to date, ranking just behind the Mega Man and Street Fighter games. In fact, the original RE game was probably the first PSX game to make the system worthwhile before other important games were released in the following years. Most everyone who's played the games already knows the story, but for those who haven't, here's a brief synopsis: A strange murder occurrence just outside of Raccoon City has caused Police officials to be suspicious, so they sent two Special Tactics and Rescue Squad (STARS) teams to go investigate. You play as either Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield, both of them surviving STARS members. The teams end up getting stuck in the mountains, so they eventually find themselves inside a huge mansion, where the STARS members discover numerous creatures such as zombies, mutilated dogs, giant spiders, and other monsters. These were all created due to Umbrella Corporation's disastrous T-Virus. As the game goes along, more important discoveries are made. Now let's talk about the game itself. Of the three PSX RE games, this one easily has the worst graphics. We're talking first-generation PSX graphics here, if that's any indication. The character models are all blocky and easily stick out from the otherwise highly detailed still-screen environments. These environments are navigatably 3D, but the camera angles sit at fixed 2D points, which can be both good and bad, depending on the situation. By bad, I mean that some angles hinder the view of the action. The monsters (especially the zombies) have very limited animation and models compared to the later games, and its limited engine prevents the game from having more than 3 monsters on the screen at one time (not including the crows). So the only real decent graphical aspects are the rendered environments. But even they don't quite compare to the detail in the following games. The sound effects are good for the most part. However, the zombies come off sounding more like moaning old men than actual monsters, and the voice acting... dear god? don't get me started. It's so hilariously bad that it's just fun to listen to. The dialogue doesn't help things at all along with the horrible acting which is bad even by B-movie standards. One of my friends almost died of laughter the last time I went through the game. The music on the other hand, is decent and suits the mood of each area appropriately. It's nothing special, but it does add to the overall suspense. The controls are something that most people either love or hate. It took me some time to get used to them, but now I have no troubles whatsoever. Most people that hate them don't seem to realize that RE isn't just an all-out action game, but rather an exploration puzzle type game with action segments. The controls were a bit rough here, though they have been more refined in later releases. I do admit though, that it does get very tedious backtracking to the item box again and again because you can't hold all the items you want to. Between the two playable characters Jill and Chris, I personally found Jill to be the better one to control because she has more inventory slots and weapons than Chris, although Chris's voice acting isn't quite as nerve-grating as hers is. Both characters each have their own sub-character that helps them along game, such as Barry who helps Jill, and Rebecca who aids Chris. Most people have said that this game was the scariest of all the RE games. I'm not sure I agree with that, but the atmosphere can be quite chilling at certain points. I suppose that the dogs breaking through the glass windows could've scared newbees to the series, but since I was introduced through RE2 and the fact that I've already played the MUCH freakier Silent Hill games, the original didn't scare me nearly as much as it should have. To the game's credit though, it does present the most puzzles, and a majority of them are real brain-benders. It's something that the series started to get away from as time went on. Plus, I thought that the game itself felt larger than all the others in the series, so it will take a while for new players to beat it. The challenge is also very high since there is very limited ammo to take out the creatures with. Even veteran RE fanatics still find the first game to be thoroughly challenging enough to come back for more. This version of the game is a director?s cut edition, but it?s really nothing special. All we get is an extra mode that is more challenging and features different outfits for the main characters, but if you already own the original, there?s no need to get this version. Apparently the Japanese version also had extra cut-scenes, so we were cheated! So much for it being a ?director?s cut?, huh? Although this game is extremely dated by today's standards, it's still worth checking out if you're a big fan of the series and want to see how the series got started in the first place. However, it's not really necessary now that a MUCH better remake is available on the Gamecube, so I suggest looking into that game instead. RECOMMENDED SPECIFICALLY TO FANS OF THE SERIES. NEW FANS SHOULD START WITH RE 2 OR THE GAMECUBE REMAKE OF THE ORIGINAL FIRST. Read more ›

4 out of 5 stars Resident Evil: Director's Cut review
WulfmanJax

****1/2Resident Evil is one of those games that needs to be rated, not on the game itself, but what it did for the video gaming world. RE was the first video game to actually put the gamer into a real life horror movie and then say, "survive this!" So, RE, along with other games, became known as the "survival horror" games. While RE, on terms of gameplay, might not be the greatest game ever made, it's still fun. Of course though, that's not what the game focuses on anyway. This game focuses on trying to scare the dickens out of every gamer who picks it up, at least, the first time they play it. Scenes like where you head out of the dining room and into the long corridor. You look right; nothing but doors. You look left; a corner that you can't see around, so you head to the left and turn the corner and your first taste of a true horror game/movie starts. The cut scene reveals the back head of your first encounter with a zombie, one that happens to be munching on one of your comrades. As he turns around to look at you, you see that pale, ugly face of the undead that you'll see all throughout the game. After you dispose of the creature you finally realize just what you're in for. The second scene that had everyone talking is your first trip down the carpeted, "L" shaped hallway with all the windows. As you enter there aren't any zombies so you think, "Oh, good, no creatures to kill me..." or so you think. As you're making your way down the hall, your first encounter with a Cerberos (zombie dog) occurs. The glass breaks and you jump out of your seat as the dog heads toward you. Everyone out there might as well admit that the first time you ran into that dog you were frozen with fright just long enough for him to take a bite out of you. Then you snapped back into action and squeezed off 3-5 shots and killed that doggy dead. Things like this is what made this game so great. Although the gameplay of: raise gun, and then shoot monster until he dies isn't exactly cutting edge, it serves its purpose. The game is split between killing monsters and solving puzzles that are anywhere from easy to very difficult. The puzzle part gives you the "game" feeling and everything else; the killing monsters, cheesy plot, horrible dialogue, and creepy music gives you the scary movie feeling. The plot is mainly about a group of scientists that were working on a virus that turns living things into mad, blood thirsty creatures of the undead. Several murders start occuring in the small town of Raccoon City with the victums being eaten. The STARS (Special Tactics And Rescue Squad) are sent to investigate. They disappear and another STARS group is sent to find them. What they find is their downed helicopter and strange, growling creatures lurking in the woods. The creatures start chasing them and the STARS members start running. What they run into is the mansion where the experiments started in the first place. Half of their group, by now, is either missing or dead. Here, in the main hallway of the mansion, is where you start your adventure. Later in the adventure you uncover Umbrella's (the evil corperation) secret and the conspiracy within your own group. One thing that made RE was the creepy music. While very simple, it still gave you the feeling of a classic horror movie. The greatest part of the game was the brilliant camera angles that were given to you in each area. From the first moment you walk into the dining room you know that Capcom knew what they were doing. The view shows your character at the end of the room and the camera angle is at the end of the long dining table. The graphics in the game are very good as well. What stands out though is Capcom's attention to every detail when it came to the mansion's design. If you stop and really look at the place, you'll notice that it really is a beautiful place. (if it wasn't crawling with zombies that is). In the game your ammo and weopons are extremely limited. Throughout the entire game all you get is a knife, 9mm handgun, shotgun, and a flamethrower or bazooka (depending on which character you pick). Also, the ammo through the game is extremely limited, I mean to the point where you almost have to try and avoid every fight you possibly can. This becomes very mind numbing and repetitive. So, the bad parts in the game: dialogue, lack of weopons and ammo, simple gameplay, very hard puzzles, and running around the mansion all the time. The good parts: graphics, mansion's detail, creepy music, outstanding camera angles, and the best translation of a horror movie into a game of it's time. RE has spawned several sequels, and several RE clones such as Silent Hill and House of the Dead. However, there will never be another game that will give you the feeling the first RE did. Resident Evil is a classic in the way that it created a whole new genre of games, and how many games can claim they did that! Read more ›

3 out of 5 stars Better to play RE1 before RE2

I bought RE2 before RE1DC, and not suprisingly, RE1 was a bit disappointing. It is a great game and I enjoy playing it, but once one is accustomed to playing RE2, RE1 seems a little "lame". Kind of like driving a Lexus around for a while, then changing to a Corrolla. Still a nice car, but not quite the same.Don't get me wrong, I HIGHLY recommend the game, but if you're just getting into the RE series, buy and play them in order.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best in it's time

What can I say? I remember the first time I played this game, how much the atmosphere drew me in and almost made me forget it was a video game. I remember the first time I jumped because I was so focused on exploring and wasn't prepared for that first dog.I originally owned this game on the now defunct Sega Saturn. I was thoroughly enjoying the game, and my Saturn died when I was about 3/4 of the way finished. That was about when the Saturn was seeing it's last days, so I didn't feel like dropping more money into another Saturn, and at that time, I just figured I'd get Resident Evil for the PC. Now that I have a PS2, I decided to get this for that system. I'm really glad I did.Although the graphics are dated by today's standards, they are still sufficient for a great game experience, and all of that atmosphere makes up for the graphical limitations the game had when it was originally released. The thing that I most like about this disc is that it has the original and director's cut both on one disc. I bought it for the original, but I'm looking forward to the slight changes in the director's cut when I finish that. So, what it comes down to is this: If you like creepy games, and can find the enjoyment in slow exploration type games (I was a big multi-player Quake fan for a long time because of the non-stop action, but this was a nice change of pace), pick this up for sure. It's a classic, and will always be a fun game to play.
