With the release of Mario Kart 8 a couple months back now, and with Hyrule Warriors on the horizon at the end of September, it seems as good a time as any to look at Nintendo's alternative controller for the Wii U system. Now be aware, this is not meant to replace the Gamepad that comes with the system. Any games with Gamepad utility or special features that require the touchscreen will still require it. But for multiplayer games or games that don't necessarily need the Gamepad, the Pro Controller is absolutely the controller you should be using. While it feels surprisingly light in the hand, the construction of the controller still feels solid, not like a toy and more like a tool for a gamer. While some have lamented the placement of the control sticks, citing the staggered placement of the XB360 controller as a better setup, I find this to be completely a matter of personal preference. Anybody who has played a game like Skyrim on the PS3 knows that parallel sticks can work just fine. The controller connects wirelessly and comes with it's own charging cable, and runs an absolutely astonishing 80 hours of playtime between charges. I've had mine for months and put it on the charger cable twice. That's it, that's all it needed. So how does it play in the hand? Surprisingly comfortably, as it were. For taking so many design cues from both the XB360 and PS3 controllers, the Pro controller still manages to feel more comfortable than either, in my opinion. For long sessions of Mario Kart, and eventually Smash Bros., this is definitely more comfortable to hold than an extended session with the Gamepad. And at $50 plus tax, this controller is also less expensive than comparable controllers on rival systems. If there are any cons, the only one I can muster is that the shiny finish on it will attract smudges and fingerprints like a magnet, so keeping it clean will be a task. But all that aside, this controller is worth every penny. Make the investment in them now, you will not be sorry.Pros:-Incredible battery life-Comfortable to grip-Excellent control placementCons:-Smudge magnet-If you're used to a 360 controller then this one will take some adjustment. There is no question that when it has came down to video games, Nintendo has been able to deliver the best in longevity over any video game company. But nevertheless, in a world that is filled with tablets and smartphones, it honestly been much harder for video game companies to shine and have their place in the sun. Still, Nintendo is standing strong with their Wii U system. They still have great accessories that you can also use for the system. Their Nintendo Wii U Pro Controller handles very well, and works flawlessly on great titles like Mario Kart 8 and the upcoming Super Smash Brothers game for the system. It also handles well with the virtual console on games like Sonic The Hedgehog and Super Mario 64. What I wish it could've had is backwards compatibility, so you could use it flawlessly to work with games from the original Nintendo Wii era like Wii Sports and The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Still, hopefully there will be more excellent games that will work for the money with their wireless controller.Price: B-Convience: BOverall: B-

Controller is amazing. Super high battery life (80 hours) Best way to play in my opinion. It feels like a 360 controller but with that Nintendo touch.

Very good controller for the Wii U. An excellent alternative to the gamepad if that's a bit too large for your taste. The included USB cord allows you to charge it from the console, which is nice. The buttons feel good to press, but the triggers and bumpers are weird if you're used to Xbox. They have the same feel as the face buttons, which is fine, but i prefer the Xbox bumpers with that nice "click".Pros:Costs same as Wiimote/Nunchuk but betterCharge it from the consoleAll the buttons are basically the same as the gamepadLight, but doesn't feel cheapCons:Fingerprint magnetYou may accidentally press the power button instead of Home since they're about the same size and placementCannot completely replace the gamepad on every game

Great controller. Comfortable to hold and the vibration is less noisy and better feeling than the one on the gamepad which is NOISY and weak. However it is still no where near the level of the gamecube controller.
