4 out of 5 stars **Updated** Quality budget headset, the wiring is it's biggest downfall.
Phillip Winfrey

This video shows off the mic quality and the headset's features.**Update 2/10/2013**Well, it has been over a year since this review. The headset itself has held up to lots of use and even drop abuse. The one thing that I would like to note (which is why I gave it a 4 star in the first place) it is a cheap headset, so the wiring is where they cut corners. The wires themselves are very tiny, and re-soldering is impossible (I found this out when my pet chewed through my first pair.) The second headset I received has had issues after a year of use, the little control box on the wire is put together cheaply and can cause static if the volume level is maxed. The microphone also has a tendency to go out so I have to tug on the wire from the box to get it to work. However, my brother who still has his original pair has had no issues at all.**Update 10/22/2013**I will be needing to replace this headset soon, my mic has gone out (unless I want to try moving the wiring around the control box) and the speakers are starting to develop static when the wire is moved (also mostly around the control box.)I will say this for the manufacture, removing the control box would be awesome, I use it rarely. Some of my friends that have the same headset use the control box, but only because it's available to them, as most voice communicating software comes with an easy way to mute your microphone.I consider volume control on a headset worthless, since it's easy to change the audio volume on your computer. My brother's headset is still working like a champ. (I'm envious.)They are okay headsets, not stylish, but comfortable and quite affordable.Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars So far so good

This does not come with a USB hook up. I'm personally happy about that. It frees up my other two USB ports. It comes with a two pronged hook-up, for the microphone port and the headphone port. You can plug in just one or both, depending on your needs.Just make sure you have a mic and headphones port on your computer, the small round ones. (I don't know the technical term.)If I just want to listen to music, I can use the headset alone. If I just need the mic, I can unplug the headphone jack from the port and have my computer's sound come through the speakers. The mic still functions. It's very comfortable, unlike some headphones. I can wear it for hours and forget I have it on. The sound is great, and the microphone seems to work well for my gaming needs. One tiny negative would be that it encloses your ears completely. So hearing the sounds around you can be somewhat difficult. That can be a positive as well, though, since it blocks out other noises.Over all, this is a great uncomplicated device. I plugged it in, and it worked!

5 out of 5 stars This is exactly what I wanted

Yapster TM-YW100A - nice sound quality, sensitive mic. I checked mic in Corel Video Studio Pro X2. Recording quality: loud, clear, no white noise. I liked it. Sound is great also! Good enough bass and high frequencies.Fit exactly for my ears. Feels a little tight, but if you want to unbend it be aware that it is plastic under soft leather so be careful.Headphones have volume control, mute button. Both work so far flawlessly.Very nice design. Mid size. Cord 168 cm though not 2.2m as in description, but it's still long enough to not pluck off if you will stand up suddenly. The mic handle is very pliable and long enough for anybody's head. It's about 7.5'' or 19 cm from plastic part of center of connection with headphone to the end of plastic part of microphone. You can bend it on anyway you want. Very handy!Other characteristics:3.5 mini-jack; Microphone:Noise reduction design (however I'd recommend adjust it lower otherwise your breath from nose will be heard);Omni-directional;Frequency response: 30 - 16KhzSensitivity: -59 dbHeadphones:Frequency response: 20 - 20KHzSensitivity: 100dbMax power input 50mWRight price, right size, right headphones with microphone - right on, right on!Update: 6 months later I bought some unbranded VOIP/SKYPE Headset w/Microphone which was cheaper and I regretted it. As old says don't buy to cheap - you'll pay twice. It was a step down after Yapster. So, on the second day I ordered from Yapster and received (in couple days) my well known TM-YW100A. It's my second headset (first one was taken from me by my kid) and I still happy with it. Microphone quality is outstanding and so sound quality.Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good piece of kit!
XBOX gamer

I've had these for over 4 months now. Like many previous purchasers, I was searching for a headset that suited my budget as much as it would suit my needs. Since then, I've had ample time to run this headset through its paces. And frankly, I must confess that I am stunned by its exemplary performance. Over the past few months I have used the Yapster for everything from Skype & video narration, to watching movies and/or listening to music, to gaming (on both the PC and an Xbox 360), to audio books. Here's how it fared:Skype: This headset is absolutely brilliant for Skype (and all other VoIP applications I would suspect). In my work, clear and constant communication between all parties is vital. With my previous headset - a Logitech Clear Chat - voices sounded hollow and distant. With the Yapster, those I conversed with came through clearly but warmly - the way human voices should. Not once did I feel the need to ask others to speak up or repeat themselves. I heard and understood them the first time, everytime. And the sensitive microphone performed flawlessly. I have been able to converse with others without ever once raising my voice or repeating myself. For me, this was (and continues to be) a clear advantage. I've not had my voice go hoarse - much less lose my voice - since I began using the Yapster, despite having spent hours a day in online communications and presentations.Movies & Music: With a name like "Yapster", I assumed that the headset would only excel at chat and not much more. I was stunned to find that the Yapster was surprisingly stellar with the wide dynamic range found in cinema and music. The low-frequency response was flat-out top-notch, producing deep and impactful bass notes in music, and tightly defined hits in film. The highs were equally impressive.Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Batman Soars in Arkham City
Tiger CK

Batman: Arkham Asylum was outstanding; its sequel Batman Arkham City is quite simply one of the greatest video games ever conceived. It combines a great character and villain with beautiful graphics, a good story and exciting game play, creating a genuinely unique gaming experience.Synopsis and Premise: In Batman: Arkham City a section of Gotham has basically been turned into a giant prison for the inmates of Arkham Asylum who can prowl the streets but not leave. In the beginning of the game Bruce Wayne is kidnapped and dragged into Arkham City by Hugo Strange who seems to have masterminded the city's creation. The super villains contained in the city are attacking and killing each other and Batman has to find out what is at the bottom of this.Production Values: The production values for Batman: Arkham City are pretty much in a class by themselves. They do a better job of bringing the Batman and his world to life than almost any other game, cartoon or film with the possible exception of the Christopher Nolan Batman films. Kevin Conroy reprises his role as Batman and Mark Hamill returns as the Joker (he has likely now become as famous for playing the Joker in cartoons and video games as he is for playing Luke Skywalker). All of the villains in the game look as sick and twisted as they ever have in the movies or the comics. Gotham City is remarkably well detailed with its gothic architecture and dark nightscapes. Even the musical score is stunningly appropriate for the game. My only complaint here is that there are so many villains in the game that not all of their roles and characters are fully developed. But this is a minor complaint given the scope and purpose of the game.Gameplay: Batman's main objective in this game is difficult and there are many side quests in the form of challenges left by the Riddler that will likely occupy gamers for a long time. You can spend hours looking for tiny and relatively meaningless trophies. Solving quests and defeating opponents earns you experience points. It is not too difficult to accumulate points as you move through Arkham City. As you accumulate points you can add or upgrade Batman's weapons and gadgets. The controls are somewhat complicated and I am still getting used to all of the new things that Batman can do. Like in Arkham Asylum, one button strikes, one button jumps and one button counters. But there are also a large variety of multipliers and combos that enable Batman to do an impressive and fun array of combat maneuvers. In Arkham City Batman gets a terrific array of new toys such as smoke pellets that enable him to sneak away from opponents, ice grenades and a new version of the cryptographic sequencer. Some of Batman's toys from Arkham Asylum have also been improved and can do more. The line launcher has new a new feature that allows Batman to flip and change directions. Moreover, players can now use the grappling gun when Batman is gliding enabling him to get higher up in the Gotham skyline. There is a way to use almost all of these weapons during fights. Again, players have to learn how to use some of these features but once they do they will find that Batman is capable of an astonishing range of motion.Batman: Arkham City also allows gamers to play as Catwoman who has her own separate storyline. She has her own weapons and moves and fights quite differently from Batman. She feels lighter and more agile than Batman but not as strong or powerful.I have only one caveat about this game and that is that it is definitely not meant for the inexperienced game player. The game often requires you to produce a particular gadget or weapon to deal with a specific situation or defeat a particular foe. And as you play along it becomes harder and harder to keep track of everything that you have accumulated. Sometimes the game gives you a reminder or clue about what to use. But I think the complexity of Batman's mission and his equipment might be a bit frustrating to a new or relatively inexperienced gamer. Conclusion: Rocksteady has created an expansive and challenging game with Batman Arkham City. It sets a new standard for superhero games and single player games. If you play it for a little while you will almost feel like Batman. Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Game, Install the Catwoman DLC before you start playing however
M Blankenship

Im gonna keep this review short since my fellow reviewers above me have said about everything. I love this game, it is everything Arkham Asylum had and more. I do want to stress the importance of installing the Catwoman DLC before you start playing as her parts are intertwined with the Batman Gameplay from the beginning. Its not like you beat Batman's story then install her DLC and play it seperately. Other than that the Setting is Dark yet inviting. The combat is flawless and super addicting, and there are TONZ of side missions and riddler trophies to be found. Batman fanatic or not, anyone could find something from this game to have a blast with! Pick it up!

5 out of 5 stars Top Notch Game
OoAK

Alright, I received my game early this morning and just finished a roughly six hour session. In that amount of time you would think I accomplished some type of milestones, but truthfully most of that time was spent just running around exploring the city and beating up some random thugs. I didn't realize how much fun I would have in this game just grappling around rooftops, swooping down and taking out a gang of henchman over and over again. If you've played Arkham Asylum, you'll feel right at home with the combat system and it's still fun as ever making Batman take out a group of 10 or so thugs by himself. The inclusion of Catwoman is a nice addition, and she's just as fun to play with as the bat himself. The opening credits scenes are fantastically done setting you up for the epic time ahead. Voice acting is, of course, very well done. Characters look great, the overall city looks great, and so far the story is definitely keeping me interested. The only complaint I have for this is that so far, and it doesn't look like it's going to come to be, is that you still can't drive the batmobile. Also, I would've liked to have been able to have a small part of the story playing as Robin & Nightwing like they did with Catwoman since they're usable in the challenge maps. But, overall i'm very happy that I bought this game. I played through Asylum 3 times, and i'm sure this one will get multiple playthroughs as well. Bottom line: If you enjoyed Arkham Asylum, you will enjoy Arkham City, because it attempts to expand on it in every way possible and succeeds in doing so.

5 out of 5 stars Great Game! Trumps Arkham Asylum in every way imaginable!
JW Hamilton

When I originally started playing Batman Arkham City, I thought it was one of the most entertaining and fun games I'd ever played, but the people at Rocksteady really outdid themselves with Arkham City. The storylines in both are very entertaining and keep you into the game, but the gameplay in Arkham City is so much more exciting and expansive...it blew my mind!!Granted I am a Batman fan, but I think this is a great game for anyone. The extras and DLC's for this game are also above and beyond any game I've played. Being able to play as Nightwing, Robin, and Catwoman as well as Batman kept me playing even after i beat the game.A great game for anyone!

5 out of 5 stars Best batman game ever made
J. Giannone

looking at all of the 5 star reviews before me, you can obviously see that this game is a must buy for all batman fans... the game play is different then the 1st game so i enjoy playing it so far. The comic book that came with it is really cool too. :)

5 out of 5 stars Truly incredible game - a must play
Jeremy Smith

Batman: Arkham City is a whirlwind of action, stealth, detective work, and all-around fun. You never get bored in the game, because the main quest, sidequests, and collectibles are all exciting, puzzling, and adrenaline-pumping. There are some games as good, for different reasons, but you would be hard pressed to actually declare any of them better than Batman: Arkham City.STORY: The story is nothing short of fantastic. At every step, you are wondering "Who is this mysterious stalker?", "What traps might be in store next?", "How does he know this?" and so much more. The journey you take with Batman is amazing and engrossing. I have played the entire game through twice (you have to, if you want all the achievements) and don't want it to stop. If you loved Arkham Asylum (and you aren't human if you didn't), this game is even better. If you haven't played Arkham Asylum, go buy it. You don't need it to understand what's going in Arkham City, because the games are perfectly independent, but there's so much richness in putting the two together.GAMEPLAY: Arkham City stands as a monument to the talents of modern day game developers. How did we ever play those archaic hack'n'slash when the freeflow combat system makes so much more sense and is orders of magnitude more fun. Batman combines stealth with action in a blend that is unmatched by any other game. Flying through the city skyscrapers and then abruptly diving into a crowd of hostile, armed enemies and beating the bananas out of them is exhilarating and seamless.GRAPHICS: Incredible. Lifelike. You feel the punch you're delivering to that thug's head, and you can sense the wind whipping at you as you soar through the night. The rendering is seamless and just absolutely perfect. The detail in the game is like nothing you've experienced. You're flying around a giant, sandbox city and then you spot something, so you fly right at it. As you get closer, you notice small details that turn out to be clues that have hidden quests, hidden meanings, or are just plain fun easter eggs. The game will keep you guessing and keep you engaged with hundreds of tests, clues, and challenges that keep you coming back for more.AUDIO: The musical score will sweep you along for the incredible ride as Batman battles all the criminals of Gotham in one crazy night. It is both heart-rending and uplifting. All of the tragedy, nobility, and hope of Batman's story can be felt in just the music.CONCLUSION: Batman: Arkham City is a triumph and the best in its class. You can feel the love the game makers put into it, as they created a piece of art that has enough content for any 3 games. I would gladly pay more for this game, and love the opportunity to try out different characters like Catwoman, Robin, and Nightwing and also support Rocksteady for their terrific work. You want this game, I promise.10/10 Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Best deal in video game history! 5 games in one box!
JR Media Freak

I have been a fan of Half Life, so I knew I would get this for Xbox 360. (I prefer playing games on consoles.) I was also curious about the other games in this package. There is one disc...when you put it in the 360 a main menu comes up with five choices across the bottom of the screen...1. Half Life 2, 2. Half Life 2 Episode One, 3. Half Life 2 Episode Two, 4. Portal and 5. Team Fortress 2. That's right 5 games! One disc. One box. $59.99! Great deal.Half Life 2 appears to be much better looking graphically than the original Xbox version...there are not as many glitches either. The backwards compatible version had quite a few bugs that made playing the game on the 360 quite annoying. Not to worry here. The game play is smooth and quite comparable to the PC version. The bonus here of course is that you have both Episodes One and Two to move on with after completing Half Life 2...or you can play just Episode One or Two. You don't have to solve one to play the others. That may be beneficial if you have played Half Life 2 and just want to jump right into the Episodes. The graphics on the Episodes really shine...it looks amazing...they did a great job with this version.Portal is an interesting game and quite challenging. It seems very similar to Half Life 2 in that it is in first person, but this is more of a puzzle game. You have a portal shooting gun, and you have to figure out how to use the device to get through a maze or puzzle. There are a few twists on this too...moving platforms, switches, blocks, weight activated floor buttons, electrical sensor receptacles, energy emitting zappers that can activate the receptacles and later in the game this is even more complicated by motion sensing robotic machine gun turrets. It really stimulates the brain. It definitely makes you think outside the box. Eventually, you get the ability to shoot two different portals...one an entry portal, and the second an exit portal. I got addicted to this game and played for two hours straight until I became completely stuck and confused. I had to put it down and relax for a while...I was getting a little too intense. I can't wait to play again.Team Fortress 2 is an online multiplayer based game. You are set up into teams, and then there are different objectives to play. I only played it twice, so I don't know all the ins and outs of it. However, it does look quite interesting. There are a few different characters to choose from with different abilities. These abilities can make one character better at defending a base, one is better at going out and stalking the other team, etc. There are snipers, medics, heavy weapon handlers, spies, scouts and a few others that I can remember. This game appears to have some replay value and a lot of fun for online multiplayer. With all those games in one box and on one disc, who wouldn't want it for $59.99?!? This is truly the best deal in video game history. Why don't more companies do this and release more content at one time? This may make developers think about quantity in addition to quality. 5 out of 5 stars Orange Box, Black Box, whatever! It's all good!
Ethan D Van Vorst

I should mention up front that I'm a PC gamer, and that while there are some here that might hold that against me (you console folks can be brutal) I'm going to give as honest a review of the Orange Box games as I can. Given that Valve's release coincided with some catastrophic malfunction of my wife's car, the funds I had set aside for this game for my PC ended up getting sucked up into car repairs, thus I was forced to play this on my brother's Xbox 360. And that said I thoroughly enjoyed the Xbox version, much to my surprise, even without a mouse and keyboard to aim and shoot with.Orange Box includes the original Half Life 2, and it's subsequent followups Episodes 1 and 2. In addition it contains the quirky spatial-puzzle game Portal, and as icing on the cake Team Fortress 2. To get these separately (at least on PC) would run in the realm of $250, more or less, and to get all 5 games in one bundle for all of $60 is too good to be true. On to the actual reviews.Half Life 2 begins with MIT PhD Doctor Gordon Freeman, released some 20 years after the Black Mesa incident by the G-man and into a dystopic City 17. It appears that Earth has been conquered by a galactic conquering empire of sorts who used Freeman's previous handiwork at Black Mesa to burrow through the walls of time and space to invade Earth. The game follows his insertion into this volatile situation culminating in his leadership of Earth's rebellion against the Combine Overwatch. The game's "silent protaginist" approach, where the player's character never speaks, is played out perfectly and adds greatly to the storytelling angle. The game tells it's own story and you're basically along for the ride. The weapons selection is fairly standard fare for a shooter, with your usual selection of pistols, rifles, and the ubiquitous shotgun. The real nice touch is the Gravity Gun, which can pick up loose objects on the ground and can then be used to hurl said objects at your enemies. The sound, voice acting, and atmosphere of the game (of a familiar world turned into an Orwellian style police state) are all fantastic.Episodes One and Two both continue the story as Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance both try to escape City 17 in the former and deal with the remnants of the Combine in the latter. Each new episode showcases a new technology add to the engine (lighting effects for Episode One, motion blur for Episode Two) to increase gameplay. When I loaded up Portal I had only the vaguest idea of what to expect. The game is admittedly hard to grasp at first and requires you to think puzzles out using Euclidean geometry and Newtonian physics and a little bit of brain juice all mixed in. The game begins with the protaginist, a female in an orange jumpsuit, being forced to complete a number of puzzles for the test facility's computer using a hand-held portal generating device. One can cross chasms by blasting an entry hole in the wall next to you and an exit hole in the wall across the chasm and simply cross it by walking through the portal. Each test gets harder, and it becomes apparent as things move along that the computer running the tests (and you) is more than a little deranged. As this game is set in the Half-Life universe I look forward to seeing how the plot of this game fits in with that of the larger title.Lastly we come to Team Fortress 2. I must admit that I have loved Team Fortress since it's inception and have played it religiously since 1998 on the PC. This game spent the better part of 7 years in development limbo and those of us among the originals fans were pretty skeptical that the game would ever be released at all, but the finished product is here and is an absolute blast. Players can pick one of among nine classes to play, from the lightly armed but fast moving Scout, to the lumbering two-legged tank Heavy. There are only 6 maps included in the game, which is a downside, but the maps themselves are quite solid and the game dynamic is unique. The game itself is done in a style reminiscent of "The Incredibles" and this lends some rather comedic elements to the overall experience. The game is entirely Capture the Flag (CTF) so don't expect to go into Deathmatch as it was never designed to do this. There are some minor points I must mention about Orange Box though. For starters the Half-Life games are really dark. I've had the benefit of having played this on the PC and the lighting is pretty ho-hum on the Xbox version. Case in point, even with the brightness on the game turned up you can still barely see in even dusk conditions, let alone the details on your weapons. The caveat here is that if you turn the brightness up *too* much then you end up getting flooded with bright light when you enter better lit areas, resulting in a weird glaucoma-style whiteout. Expect to have your HEV suit light on *a lot*. In addition the surface textures aren't quite as crisp as I what I was accustomed to with my previous experiences on the PC, although this didn't detract from the game that much.I also felt it something of a disservice to 360 owners that as big as the game release was Valve kind of dropped you into the *middle* of the story, without the courtesy of even giving the new HL player an overview of what's happened thus far. The events of Half Life, HL: Opposing Force, and HL: Blue Shift are all integral to the storyline, and taking someone completely new to the story and simply dropping them off halfway through it seemed a puzzling choice. As they'd gone as far as making a game release this big how difficult would it have been to at least add HL 1:Source into the mix? Granted, it's an eyesore by today's standards, but still. With TFC2 I don't have complaints, more like concerns. In the PC world you have literally thousands of custom player-made maps, as well as numerous Valve releases, and I'm wondering if players will be able to play classic Valve TFC maps like "Rock" and "Hunted". I suppose it wouldn't be too difficult to accomplish, but all in all it was a befuddling thing to place such a great, solid game into the mix with only 6 maps. And I'm wondering if they plan to eventually add class-specific grenades as those would most certainly enhance the gameplay.Still the game package itself is fantastic and it's clear that a lot of love was poured into their production and subsequent carryover to the 360. I'm impressed enough with the 360's performance with these games that even an old, grizzled PC gamer like myself is giving it a serious second look. Cannot recommend Orange Box enough! Now if only they had a mouse/keyboard setup for old PC diehards like me to play with. :) Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Best Game Compilation Ever!
Bob Chan

Not only is this game the best value in console history, with 5 quality titles, its also includes some of the most innovative first-person game play design as well. I'll review each title:Half-Life 2 (4.5/5) - Probably the single best 1-player first person shooter ever made, definitely for the PC. I played this game on the PC and it gets a perfect 5/5 there. The console version gets a 0.5 star deduction if only because the 360 controller proves to be slightly less adept than the mouse/keyboard combo. Combat is fine because they've added some auto aim to compensate, but often times you'll find yourself strafing back and forth at doorways, in order to line up correctly and get through. But the absolute worst is the vehicle control. Halo is the only FPS I've played that got vehicle control right, but HL2 is bound by the rule of never leaving Gordon Freeman's eyes, and so driving must be done first-person. But the driving segments are relatively short, given the total length of the game, and there are plenty of breaks. Certainly not a deal breaker, but still noticeably inferior to the PC version in this regard.Half-Life 2: Episode 1 (4/5) - The first in the "episodic content" experiment, HL2:EP1 returns you to the Citadel, where you ended HL2. The first portion of the game has you repeating the same style of combat, using your enhanced gravity gun. Some new puzzle elements have been added here, which basically involves shooting energy balls around. Its interesting, but not nearly as diverse as the first game. Same with the rest of the game. Although there are some interesting new ideas, and a few new enemies, there is also a little too much repetition for such a short title, and although the story is captivating as always, it doesn't advance very far. Ultimately though, its HL2 so it rocks. These are minor complaints, and would be diminished if it didn't have its predecessor to be compared to. There is also an unbelievable XBox 360 "Achievement" that involves completing the entire game using just one bullet!Half-Life2: Episode 2 (4.5/5) - The first "new" game on the disc. A little longer, and a little better than the previous episode. The game play has changed a little here. There are a few less physics puzzles, and more varieties of combat. A brutal new enemy is unveiled, and quickly gives you a reason to despise them. One of the byproducts of this stylistic change, means more frustration. The first two games are very linear and do an excellent job of indicating ideal strategy, while still letting you "run and gun" if thats your style. While this title is still pretty linear, you have to work out some strategies on your own, and that usually involves dying a lot. In the middle of the game, navigating an underground antlion nest involves EVADING a mother antlion. Its not exactly clear (the AI characters only tell you not to KILL it), and you'll waste ammo (that you ABSOLUTELY need later) if you even try and combat it. For the first time, there is an epic "end battle". This was probably the most intense experience in the whole series, and it follows the same style as above: there are multiple strategies to attack the encroaching enemies. This is the first time I wanted to throw my controller out the window, but finally winning was awesome. When does Episode 3 come out again?Portal (5/5) - Another reviewer has said that if you don't like Portal, then you are stupid. There isn't much else to say. Talk about an innovative idea that is perfectly executed! Portal is not only a unique puzzle game, its wickedly smart and funny. Although the game is far too short, it does have some replay value with a few advanced maps and some other challenges. I'm very interested to see where VALVe take this awesome idea! This is the first real first-person style innovation in a while.Team Fortress 2 (4/5) - The online multiplayer aspect of the package. TF2 is awesome looking (almost cell shaded?) and pretty fun and funny as well. This is class based combat, meaning that if you aren't any good at shooting people than you can be a medic or an engineer or something else useful to the team. I have two complaints. First is that its one player per console. This makes sense as its a ported PC game, but it still suffers when compared to other major FPS online games (ahem, Halo 2 & 3). The second is that the online matchmaking system isn't as smooth as others (ahem, Halo 2 & 3). Once again, this is because its based on the PC model. But its no fun to have find an almost full match only to find out its been filled in the time it took you to push the "A" button and then have to start the whole process over again. There are only a couple maps, but thats OK because it removes some of the steep learning curve. Combined with the simple controls and fixed weapon options, it allows n00bs to jump right in and at least enjoy the experience, unlike other games (ahem, Halo 2 & 3).So the final verdict is that you have to buy this title. Now. Do it. Click "Add to Cart". Do it. Read more ›

If you want a flight stick for your games, this is the one to get. Set up is a little difficult, since it tells you to hit the connect button on the Xbox and the controller, but it doesn't show where the connect button is (on the bottom with 3 little white arcs above it). Once connected it is a pleasure to use, and adjustable to fit any size hand. Be sure to get a battery charger and some rechargeable AA batteries because it does not use a charger or a cord.

4 out of 5 stars Great looking, fun to use, well built stick

This is a great stick for playing pretty much any flight combat game on the 360. It uses Microsofts own wireless technology, so just like the controllers... you just hit the guide button and you are ready to play. It has two settings via a switch for different games. Most everything uses the A setting and only a game or two use B. The stick comes with a little plastic wrench that allows you to adjust stick height and button placement, which is really nice if you hands are bigger or smaller than the default setting. The aesthetics(look)of the stick is slick. Better than the other two out there(Ace Edge and Madcatz older stick). The acceleration is handled by a slider towards the back of the stick, which offers a perfect amount of tension so you dont overshoot your target speed. Button placement is perfect and allows you to easily maneuver through the most difficult of tasks. The stick twists for rudder control.Battery life is the same as Microsofts gamepads, about 20-30 hours. You cannot use charge and play battery packs with this, only AA's, as the bottom of the stick wouldnt have allowed for the extra clearance needed for them... which is just fine. The stick is stable whether on a table or in your lap. It comes with attachments for your lap that can be attached or not.My only gripe with this stick and why it didnt get a 5, is the fact that Madcatz themselves told me that this stick had rumble feedback and unfortunately, it doesnt. I love rumble feedback in games and doing without it took a lot of getting used to. luckily, I have a transducer attached to my theater chairs to give that kick. The tension in the stick is also just a tad loose for my tastes, not terrible... but I love it tight and unfortunately, there is no way to adjust it(other than buying your own tighter spring)Overall, it is a great stick and perfect for armchair pilots such as myself. Feedback would have made this the perfect stick. As-is though, the wireless makes up for it and creates an awesome in-game flight experience that works perfectly with every flight game on the 360. 2 out of 5 stars Good concept, but some major flaws
Beau Braunberger

This flight stick has a great design. Most of the important fit paramaters (height, rake angle, head angle) are adjustable to make it quite comfortable to use. The button placement is great for the games that it is compatible with. My complaint is that there is too much of a dead-zone when moving the stick. If you are trying to make minor adjustments, the stick has to be pushed well outside of the center position before any movement registers. This makes fine control during these games difficult.Overall, this is an awesome product idea; it would be much more user friendly if the movement tracking was more sensitive when making small motions.

ON the short list of flight controllers currently available for the X-Box 360 the Cyborg F.L.Y. 9 has a place . I have heard people say they love this thing and also people who dislike it so I went in with an open mind and tried to make it work for me. It's design is (at least for now) extremely futuristic looking and to me looks like a leftover prop from a sci fi movie. Before even attempting to install and use I tried getting a feel for the unit and discovered it can be adjusted in numerous ways, to suit both your hand size and also the surface on which the base will reside. Removing the controller from it's packaging isn't as hard as many products are and I just needed to cut a few ties and had it out of the box.Once I got the stick length adjusted and the base sitting firmly on my coffee table I did my best to put this through it's paces. I thought the spring action was good and responsive. Firm, but not TOO tight. Same for the buttons as you do need to really press them to get a response so accidents are easily avoided once you get a feel for it. Trigger feels good to me, so do the left hand buttons you access while gripping the base. As for rudder control you can twist the stick or get yourself a set of pedals if that feels more natural. I had no problem making the wireless connection. It comes ready for action and works out of the box with at least 5 games including Birds of Prey and Ace Combat (which is what I tried it with) .. I would think the controller response will be different with each game and with a bit of time the sensitivity could be dialed in to your liking. For a real newbie like me I really enjoyed using it and it didn't take long to get the feel of the stick and for my fingers to get used to button placement. The Cyborg F.L.Y. seems built to last, but I have read that there have been problems with wires coming loose. I haven't had it long enough for this to happen and do not know if this issue has been resolved in manufacturing yet. So far, I am really liking this thing, having only used standard controllers at home. The price also seems reasonable for what you get. Now if it falls apart on me, I will come back and edit this review. Read more ›

2 out of 5 stars Cyborg FLY 9 for Xbox 360
Dave

I don't think I would suggest buying one of these new flight Sticks by Madcatz Cyborg, I recieved my flight stick a month ago and had rudder problems right out of the box (Mechanical), and I have been trying to get help from Madcatz for over two weeks now to no avail, they just keep sending me emails asking all the particulars on my stick which I have sent them three times. Looks like their support isn't much better than their products. It has the makings of a good Flight Stick but not till this rudder problem is fixed.
