5 out of 5 stars Good game; left me with good first impressions.
mark camerino

Here are my very fist observations:1.) Graphics are really cool! Though, there are a few times when close up on characters looks odd, but it's a new game, it's not a bad problem and not too prominent.2.) Sometimes enemies seem OP, that may be because I'm bad, or maybe because they try to scale enemies so that the Saiyans are more powerful. But really, a blue saibaman was beating up Vegeta for a minute.3.) It seems really short, I completed the saiyan saga in 20 minutes. HOWEVER, there are tons of other non-story missions where you beat stuff up!Also, a lot of the movies are included, so the length shouldn't be too much of an issue.4.) Story is weird, it's just...not an amazing story, it's just a modified DBZ story, you don't really get any actual info. It just kind of dropped Vegeta and Nappa in without much intro, and you just sort of appear on Namek without any info. So, if you haven't watched DBZ, or you plan on getting it for someone who hasn't watched it, don't get it. It's definitely aimed at DBZ fans, it's a great game, but if you're looking for a story, this isn't your game.5.) The fighting is AWESOME!!! Super Attacks are easy to use, it's easy to send an enemy flying. So far it's really fun!

OK the game sucks overall. The music is bad, the graphics are bad, the sound effects are bad, the cut scenes are a joke and so is the story mode. Now why didn't I rate this a one star?Well because despite all its flaws it's still a very fun game when you play online. This game is meant to be played online not single player offline. The AI on your team when you play single player are retarded.Playing this game online takes this to a whole new leve. IIt's so fun when all your teammates fire their ultimate move on one person at the same time. Or when you all gang up on one person. Speaking of online, their isn't no lag at all. Which is huge.Overall this game can get addicting because some of the levels on here are really difficult. And you can't just have everyone gang up on one enemy. You will need strategy and great teamwork to win. Some characters are support types, so they should avoid battle and stay back and give energy to their teammates. For all the people that complain about it being no combos, well that's because this is not a fighter. Think of super smash bros. Honestly if you play this game, having more combos wouldn't do anything special. The fighting mechanics for this game is good.I do wish they had in game transformations, but if you play this game with the card system you will have a great idea why in game transformations are not included.Overall this game is very fun to play, especially for a dbz fan. Remember, Play this game online (co-op or battle). Like I said the biggest draw back are the graphics. The game play is fun so stop comparing this to fighting games like budokai 3 and tenkaichi 3.

4 out of 5 stars but very fun to play
G. Lamb

A small learning curve on the controls, but very fun to play. Lots of parallel story mode quests that add to the shelf life of the game. Online multiplayer is broken though---so much lag that it is unplayable (I have 50mbps cable Internet, and the game pauses to sync every 10 seconds). But if you love DBZ, then this is the best game to date IMO.

4 out of 5 stars Racer delivers family fun and a full-body workout
Jared Castle

Let me introduce Sonic, master of the most grueling thigh workout on the Kinect. You probably thought you'd need to buy an exercise title featuring a screaming trainer to get a good workout. Well, it turns out this little racer will bring you to your knees as you use your whole body to twist, turn and jump your hoverboard through 16 tracks. You can upgrade your board gear temporarily with energy pickups like a soda rocket or fully to extreme gear, which is available in both board and bike formats. The hoverboard reacts like a snowboard on steroids. Maneuvering requires your whole body:* Cornering involves bending your body forward at the waist or backwards to steer;* Jumping is self-explanatory but power jumping requires you to crouch down for a few seconds before leaping into the air;* A kick dash is completed using a kick gesture using your back foot with a good follow-through;* Braking requires squaring your shoulders toward the screen; and* Your hands are kept busy to catch rings, grab horizontal bars, wipe away foggy screens and to cling to the bottom of trains (?!).The game provides an extensive tutorial along with a host named Omochao, who also serves as the game commentator. I highly recommend casual gamers take the time to go through the tutorials. This isn't a bowling game you can simply step up and play.I completed two racetracks and slumped into the couch. A trickle of sweat ran along my spine, my legs trembling. Brain synapse fired in all directions and soon I was hearing ...Robert Klein wailing on the harmonica and singing "I can't stop my leg."The gameplay is not as extensive as the granddaddy of kart racers, Mario Kart DS. However, what Sonic Free Riders lacks in depth is more than made up with by the physical racing experience that comes from using the Kinect system. Even my 8-year old son stopped after competing in four consecutive races to catch his breath and get a drink of water. So, what are the negatives?* The controls are not perfect. Don't let early frustration turn you away. The game doesn't respond as smoothly as it would if we were gripping steering wheels. We found it helped to recalibrate the Kinect for this game and widen our playing area a couple feet to allow side-by-side racing.* The menus are maddening. I'm tired of sweeping options left and right. Game designers need to hold back their Kinect zeal. Keep the menus basic, like a simple drop-down menu format, and save the wild moves for the game itself.* The online features aren't that attractive. Fortunately for us, with four in our family, there's plenty of competition at home.In summary, if you are willing to invest practice time, this is a fun, family game that also delivers a good full-body workout, too. With the initial library of Kinect games including dogs like Game Party: In Motion, "Sonic Free Riders" is a good value, especially for kids. Rating: Four stars.Hey, look. My leg stopped. 4 out of 5 stars Be Patient - it Pays Off
JCat

Well, Sonic Free Riders starts off with this frustratingly long/annoying tutorial, and once you're past it, and hit a few rounds of "World Grand Prix" you BEGIN to get the movement down. The first day of playing, my body was all over the place, trying to lean left & right way too hard and by habit, turning my body forward instead off to the side (like a skateboarder). The character was drifting way off course and I was just getting angrier". Well, After a about the 3rd track in, the frustration began to dissipate, as I was able to nail a good deal of the controls, which felt rewarding. Sonic feels more like a non-Kinect launch title - as it has more depth then the other titles. Yes, it's definitely true that sometimes, the game can be super finicky with your movement, but not enough to ruin the game like I originally thought. Sega crammed a lot of moves in this game, so it's going to take practice, as this has a bit of a learning curve. I also like that it's the only debut game (I think) that has menu driven voice commands. Overall, thumbs up - but I would not recommended Sonic Free Riders to the casual gamer (lol - the irony).

5 out of 5 stars Sonic Free Riders: An Addicitve Workout
Tyler R. Dimmel

I have seen this game recieve negative reviews overall, and I'm still trying to figure out why. Sonic Free Riders is my favorite game for the Kinect, and I am totally hooked on it. It's like riding a snowboard, and I think I actually get a better work out from the game than actaully snowboarding. You have to lean left and right as you steer your way around the course, and actually crouch down and then jump when you hit a ramp. And it's not just leg movements either. There are weapons which require different types of hand moves to be deployed, and even a special ability to let you punch through obstacles in your path. After playing this game for awhile, you are definitely going to be sore from the intense workout you just recived. And even better, it's a much more enjoyable workout rather than a treadmill or stationary bike, for instance.

1 out of 5 stars kinect tracking is a FAILURE
MAC

This game is terrible at tracking the movements with kinect. If it had been the only game I had tried, I would have thought the kinect system itself was a failure. But many of the other games are great: especially Dance Central, and Kinect Adventures.Besides being bad at tracking they take way too long explaining how to do the movements, and if you mess up, you have to hear the same LONG explanation over and over... they should just allow you to skip the explanation and try again.

4 out of 5 stars A great non-casual, single player Kinect game!
Mike

Name: MikeAge: 21Sonic Free Riders is the only Kinect game i find myself booting up when I don't have company over. When I'm entertaining guests it's always Kinect Sports or Dance Central; but if it's just myself, this has been my go-to game for single play. Once you get past the long (admittedly annoying) tutorial and begin to learn the ins and outs of the controls the game proves to be very fun. This is not a pickup and play casual game. It takes time and patience to learn the controls and exactly how to move your body. Because of this, Sonic Free Riders is one of my most played Kinect games. It has the hardcore-ish appeal that I need for a single player game, PLUS I get to use my Kinect and get a good workout.I'd recommend this game for anyone looking for a reason to use their Kinect when they don't have guests over. It has its flaws here and there, but overall it's a solid game and i always have a good time with it.

5 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny
njvas89

When my friend told me about this game, I was a bit confused as to why a 2D platformer was not a downloadable XBLA title. But he was raving about the game so much that I just HAD to pick up a copy.Needless to say, I am EXTREMELY impressed with this game. I could go on forever about it, but I won't. Instead, I will just break it down into a few components:Gameplay: 5/5Smooth controls, some of the best platforming I've seen in a while. Truly great level design.Multiplayer: 4.9/5The only reason this isn't a 5 is that it doesn't have online multiplayer. However, the experience of sitting with a couple of friends on your couch and playing together makes for a great experience. There is little-to-no frustration involved in multiplayer (unlike some other recent multiplayer platformers).Presentation: 6/5They get a billion thumbs WAY up! The art is phenomenal, everything is charming, and it is extremely obvious that they put a lot of time into the details that really makes the game come to life.I recommend this game to anyone of any age. It's silly, charming and just straight up fun.

5 out of 5 stars Maybe the best game I've bought on a whim...
David Stoner

I had heard nearly nothing about this game upon its release. Amazing word of mouth eventually made its way to me, but I didn't really know anything about Rayman (other than Rabbids). I finally found the tid-bit of info that immediately had me on my way to the game store: co-op in the fashion of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.The co-op system used here is actually better than the one used in the Mario helmed game. At any time during the game a buddy can join in on your game. If they die, they become a bubble. It's then up to you to pop them so that they can continue playing. It improves the Mario system by making the joining of a game seamless (no menu to go to, you can do it anytime), and giving you direct control over your bubble so you can be popped more quickly (no waggling to get it to move in another player's general direction). It also does away with lives. Paired with the bubble system, not having lives makes this game great to play with someone of a disparate skill level. You can tackle harder levels together and never leave them sitting idly because they died one too many times. I was thrown off, but came to love the removal of a lives system, and welcomed improvements to the already stellar co-op and bubbling ideas. Playing through the game with a friend is an absolute blast and you're missing out on a ton of camaraderie-fueled shenanigans if you don't. I plowed through the game with my girlfriend in a matter of a few days (having to do all that I could not to play ahead without her) and we both loved every second of it.This system is also great because it allows me to play with my young nieces (who are understandably terrible) without it losing their attention because they've died and have nothing to do. I think in time it might be to them what the original Super Mario Bros. was to me, and if that doesn't let you in on the regards I have for this game I don't know what will. That said, while they can play the first few levels with me, that's about it at the moment. The difficulty of the main levels has a nice curve, and as others have mentioned the new abilities you get are introduced and expanded upon nicely without any need for explanation. The game cleverly pits you in areas in which you have to use your new powers to escape before you can move on, then later rewards you for using them in new ways. The game is full of clever little things like this. And there are plenty of levels for you to tackle. I feared an extremely short game, but midway through another set of levels opens up that expands on the themes already present (forest, desert, ice/fire, sea, mechanical). On top of all that you have the fiendish treasure chest races, and the secret, brutal final level to give you more to do and a jump in difficulty. I've spent nearly a week now with the game and I'm still working to collect everything there is; you'll give up before the supply of challenges does.I'll leave it to you to experience the gorgeous scenery and infectious melodies. I find myself gawking and constantly commenting about how pretty something in the environment looks. I'm personally not a fan of the character design though. Has a very 90s vibe to it (which is understandable), but if this were a brand new property I feel like the characters would gel more with the levels and look stunning. And good luck trying to get the music out of your brain. I constantly find myself whistling the tunes and hearing the chipmunkesque vocals in my head. You might not dig 'em at first, but they will overcome any resistance you may have.Anyway, I can't tell you to buy this game with enough fervor (and that's coming from someone who rents the majority of the games he plays) because not only is it worth every penny and more, but it's one of those games you pick up with no expectations and then start grabbing random people in the street yelling at them to buy the game so that this work of art is appreciated and not seen as a failed experiment because it was released the same month as bunch of triple A blockbuster type games. Also, while you're buying this grab Tomba too. Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Masterpiece
AJ

From start to finish, Rayman origins is a masterpiece. I completed every level and every bonus level, scored 32 of 36 achievements for 725 gamerscore and got almost every electoon. Graphics are excellent, gameplay is perfect and levels are all wonderfully designed. Took me about 20 hours to beat and I wish there was more because it was such a blast. If you like platformers, get this. I don't even like platformers, but this was just amazing. One of the best games I have played this year.9.3/10

5 out of 5 stars Platforming Perfection
Orion

Rayman Origins is triple A 2D platforming perfection at its finest. This title stands right up against the other heavy weights of this genre from past and present without breaking a sweat. I would give this one 11/10 or 6 stars if I could. Without re-writing a bunch of things that have already been said in other reviews here, I will wrap up by saying I have been gaming since the NES was a brand new console, and Rayman Origins is in my top 5 games of all time.

5 out of 5 stars Is there a more lovingly crafted game?
Ryan Sil. (Creator of Dynamite Alex for Android/PC)

Finally taking a break from being overshadowed by demented Rabbids, Rayman finally stars in another platforming adventure. And BOY was this an unexpected turnout! There were a lot of times in which I thought this was too good to be true. No way could a game have such amazing 2D visuals, a gorgeous soundtrack, and incredible gameplay to match with everything alike. It would have to be a beyond-MIRACLE to obtain something like that. But I couldn't be happier to say that this game fits that bill! The gameplay is very simple - You jump, you punch/kick, you collect Lums, you do whatever it takes to go and rescue the trapped beings in them big cages. However, as simple as it sounds, it is amazingly executed. There are loads of elements that keep the flow of the gameplay at its max it's freaking unbelievable! Just watch the least bit of footage possible and you'll be amazed!Again, the graphics are EYE-POPPING! This is the finest 2D graphics could go! Everything's all hand-drawn and cartoon-y! Just thinking about it makes my mind thrive with cheerfulness! I absolutely love this look! See the boxart? The game looks just like that! And the soundtrack makes those visuals even more appealing, yet it also adds to the game by itself. There's so much about this game that I totally find awesome that I just can't put it all in one review (EX: I may as well mention now that there's a HILARIOUS intro when starting a new game). So, if you're still concerned, either go read other reviews or watch videos of the game being played. I prefer the latter.Overall, this is as close to flawless as it gets. If you are a platformer fan, you'd be just plain crazy to pass this up! Heck, it makes Rayman 2 (Who some claim to be one of the best 3D platformers) look like complete crap! Yeah, I said it.This is the best game I ever played (alongside Super Mario World), and if I, a die-hard gamer, would praise it THIS much, you have no choice but to buy this game anyway! Whether you own a PC, Wii, Xbox, PS3, etc, you need this game! Read more ›

2 out of 5 stars After their 4th Installment, you would think they have it right, not forget to copy stuff out of "The Inside Line's" features...
SKLoneWolf

Fifty dollars for all this: Roster Update, somewhat and last years paint schemes except for Daytona 2014, many rule updates are not in nor new chase format. The Game itself lags very badly Offline on Single player as well as Online Multiplayer. Career and Single player constantly freezes and you have to dashboard it. Makes you wonder how much of the game is actually on the disc. Online is horrible, I have been in multiple online races with all default cars and with custom cars and they both lag and players ghost constantly, I have been in a couple of league races with 5-6 other players who all have great connection speeds and ended up being on the track by myself while they were on another track but same location could all hear each other but not seeing the same thing on track. I ended up lapping everyone for 31 laps and winning, while they said I DNF'd and someone else won. Very Frustrating. Other times, yellow flags come out and when it goes back to restart you have lost or gained 8-10 positions always online and offline you will be 40th or more even if you were still running 2nd and they all wrecked behind you. Career Mode is just plain jane and ok, many lags, game freezes and just generic stuff, EA's was much more in depth and their product had all the stuff. I constantly hear everyone complaining in Online multiplayer races this month wanting stuff this game lacks that EA actually had and was ahead of their time on, which is ironic as back then they didn't want all that. One of the things i would have really liked and should have been easy was to have your Race Setups carry over from last game if you owned it, instead of having to re-create all of them after hours of game play and establishment thereof. Hoping they fix these issues with the update (last one took 6 months to update in the Inside line and remember they laughed and said "Ha Ha, we already got your money" in the last comments in between release and first update) that was postponed till supposedly sometime after Phoenix race they had last said. Other than that and some other things its great to atleast have a Nascar game, but after 3 installments you would think they would have most of this corrected already and not loss stuff from The Inside line like Tire wear. Some online racers i have met have actually given up on the lame League racing (even missing actual schedule template) and are running private races instead or even more so many are heading back to Nascar The Inside Line to play and giving up on this till the updates come out. Heard that EA (1998-2009 Nascar) and Codemasters (Excellent F1 2013 series) are trying to get the contract in the near future, wonder if that's why they didn't bother doing as much and seemingly coping last years and updating roster somewhat and graphics. If Eutechnyx continues to lose sales like last two games and reviews i read they will give up license. I also hear which probably will happen. If that does happen EA or Codemasters will definitely bring a better game. It's so many positives if EA or Codemasters take the license. Just think about.Better career modeBetter onlineNationwide and trucksBetter presentationBetter physics? Read more ›

First, I am a gamer that loves racing, especially racing simulation games, and I cannot express how disappointed I am in this particular game. I have played the EA NASCAR games and did thoroughly enjoy the most recent Activision release, Inside Line. It felt like it was trying to be a good simulation of NASCAR racing, but had some bugs. I was willing to overlook those issues as it was an early attempt for a new company making a NASCAR game. Unfortunately, they have not only failed to improve their offering, but have taken a step back.First off, the AI, which was arguably the weakest point in the past Activision games, has seemingly gotten worse. While I do appreciate they tried to make the AI more aggressive, it seems to result in less of "putting their nose under you / giving a slight bump into a corner" effect and more them simply racing as if you didn't exist. On restarts occasionally, the car just above you will wobble back and forth. I thought originally it was simply them creating AI spinning their tires, but when it happened 3 times on subsequent restarts to the exact same car relative to my position in the starting lineup, it's obvious it's an AI failure. The game modes are almost entirely the same. Career mode has gotten a bit of a polish, but the other modes show almost no effort into improving. One of my favorite modes, offline multiplayer racing with a full season, including standings, is not present, and with the marginally improved, yet still buggy and not satisfying online racing modes, one would think they would try to at least make offline split screening better. One of my favorite features from the older EA games makes it's return, still with the same lack of thinking that made me hate the mode on the prior game, the highlights section. Re-racing scenarios that actually occurred from the past and current seasons sounds exciting, but the mode feels like a marketing department created it. They tout on the product that they use telemetry data to determine where the cars were at that point on the track, so when you race it is exactly the same as it was on television. This may sound exciting, but you quickly realize how entirely awful the concept is. When EA created the scenario mode, the AI would take over driving, so even though the scenario starts the same way, depending on how you drive the AI is forced to compensate and each try is different. With using telemetry, it does not matter what you do, the cars are simply on a given path and cannot be moved. I attempted at one track to cut an entire corner, turned to the right, and hit another car at essentially a 90 degree angle, not a glancing blow but my entire momentum going into his driver door. The impact threw my car completely backwards, towards the infield, and his car did not move in the slightest. In another example, more depressing since I was actually involved in the race, I was going down a straightaway at Indy. I was alongside another car to the inside, and he was directly behind another car. Apparently in the real race, he did not have anyone beside him because, halfway down the straightaway, he pulled out to pass, throwing my car completely into the inside wall and ruining the two prior laps I had put into the race. The "avoid the wreck" highlights are completely ruined as each car does exactly the same thing every single time, making avoiding the wreck a matter of two runs. First run to see the path, second run to take the path. I can remember EA's highlights where, even though the car would wreck at the same time each trial, the AI driving would cause different things to happen, leading to organically fun avoidance tests. Finally, the graphics feel more "arcade-y" than the old series. The colors seem to bright, the bloom and spectacular lighting effects too intensified. I've been to races, both day and night, and the colors are not that vivid. I understand wanting a game to look good, but when you are trying to imitate real life, there is something to be said for discretion and subtlety. The few positives I can find in this are mostly inconsequential. The main menu, rather than feeling like a lazy susan in the middle of a garage, now is condensed into one menu, making for much nicer navigation. The car views now include a view which has the camera in the exact same position as the view in which the wheel is shown, but with the wheel removed. This is different from the closer to the windshield view, which is still present, and is a welcome addition, although one wonders why "remove wheel" wasn't simply a graphics option. The career mode is deeper, although certainly not to a level of depth I would expect from a game that, based on it's split screen and online multiplayer disappointments, seems begging to be a single player racing game.Overall, I would be ashamed to have my company's name on this particular product. If I put this into my Xbox and was not told anything about it, I would have guessed it to be a beta version. If you haven't played an Activision NASCAR game before and really, really want to, I can't say I wouldn't give it a go, but I would recommend Inside Line still. If you have played Inside Line, this will feel like a bit of a step backwards. The entire game has a feeling of a college student who has taken someone else's research paper, tried to copy it in their voice, but made multiple spelling and grammar mistakes, and turned it in. They took last year's game and somehow, with a cheat sheet to work from, somehow made it marginally worse. I am typically not this harsh on reviewing a game, but in this case it is particularly bad. 1 out of 5 stars needs a star lower then one for this game

these games keep getting worse. Seems as if there just trying to push out the same game over and over with nothing improved! Don't waist your money on this game. EA Sports did the Nascar games better so maybe buy one of them before over paying for this one

5 out of 5 stars Good shipping, OK game.

The game is alright. If you, like me, have never played a Nascar game, I wouldn't recommend this. But as a die hard Nascar fan that sucks at the game, I LOVE IT!

This would be probably the best Nascar game out there since 06. But right now the game needs to be patched, it has Freezing Problems, Sound Issues, and sometimes the AI are harder than what Difficulty you put them on....The AI does run into you a lot, so you have to know what's around you. Sometimes you get stuck on the Loading Screens, but that's usually when your sound problems get to you. Some of the Art Designs on the cars are done poorly....just waiting for the patch now.

Louis Puzio

I like the game a lot but the first day a received it the game was freezing up a lot. I had to take it in and get it resurfaced. that cost me money that I did not want to spend a bran new game that has never been used at all. this is the only thing that I did not like about my order. I would recommend the game to any Nascar fan. I have had two other orders that I have had to return as well.

5 out of 5 stars such a good game

Get Tomba!

Description

Tomba is like a blast from the past, with a twist. On the surface, it looks just like the side-scrolling platform games of the 16-bit era. You'll find the requisite jumps, attacks, tricks of timing, and monsters (evil pigs, no less!). But Tomba adds to this tried-and-true formula. There are numerous "events" Tomba must complete in order to advance through the game. For instance, near the beginning of the game, you learn that you must clear some fog in order to move forward. It's up to you to find out how to complete this task; it takes a bit of exploration to figure this puzzle out. Once you've gotten rid of the fog, you have "cleared" an event, and you can move on. Not all events are so straightforward; some tasks are downright cryptic, and you can have several events to clear at any one time, so playing Tomba requires some concentration. Tomba sports fresh, very cheerful graphics, decent sound and music appropriate for a platform game, and smooth controls. There's a lot of moves to master, but signposts along the way teach you how to use your controller as you progress through the game. Some areas of the game allow you to explore the foreground and the background of the level as separate areas, but don't let that fool you: Tomba is at heart a 2D game. The only real drawback to playing Tomba is the limited ability to save your progress. In order to save a game, you must find one of the special signposts scattered throughout the levels; it's a chore to save your game when you want to. A much more logical option would have allowed you to save your progress whenever you cleared an event. But that's just a minor complaint. Tomba is a great game well suited for anyone who wants a break from the glut of 3D action games out there. --John Broady

5 out of 5 stars Fun for a 7 year old or a 21 year old

First, I have to say that I love this game. My little brother (he is 7, I'm 21) discovered the game on a demo disk that came with our Playstation. As soon as we got it we both had to start a game. The game is simplistic enough that he could play on his own but challenging enough that I never lost interest in the game. The individual "events" that you have to clear can sometimes be a little difficult to figure out, but usually the supporting characters that you "talk" to in the game give you enough hints to work out the solution.

5 out of 5 stars The best game I've played so far!

I play a lot of games, and it seems like since I've played Tomba, nothing compares to it. It's an extreme strategy game that takes some brains to figure out. It's an absolutely incredible game, and now that it's so hard to find, it really stinks. My cd's keep wearing out from playing so much and I have to buy the game over and over again at $20 a pop cause it's so rare. Play Tomba! and love it!

5 out of 5 stars 18 year old still loves this "childish" game
justin meyer

I bought this game for my younger, 10 year old brother. The graphics were very simplistic and colorfull, obviously designed for children. However, after watching him play for a few days, I decided to begin my own game. And what I discovered was one of the most adictive, and difficult games I have ever played. It seems like a simple, childish game at first; however it progresses into much more. Like a 2-D zelda game, it gives the player the ability to explore a multitude of worlds. Yet it is far more challenging than any zelda game that i have ever played. It gives the player that great feeling of discovery, be it of a new level or weapon, that continues throught the gameplay. I am disapointed that I am only the first review of this game. Please, buy this game. It is truely one of the unknown gems of the gaming world.

5 out of 5 stars The Best 32-Bit Platformer
Raul Duke

what do you get when you get the best aspects of RPGs, Platformers, and adventure games? you get Tomba, an open ended masterpiece. its filled with dozens of unique areas to explore and creatures to deal with. Packed with 130 quests, you'll be busy for hours, and they arent all necessary to finish the main game, many side quests and activities to keep you busy long after finishing the main story line.Basically you play a wild cave-boy with pink hair, and you're trying to stop the evil pigs and their plot. yeah. pretty random = ].. theres tons of lore and backstory behind the world you explore, but in many cases you need to discover that for yourself, by talking to various friendly characters in towns and other areas you learn about them and pick up a quest or two along the way, this is where the open ended adventure comes in, the entire game world is streamlined and fully explorable, with only a short load time between certain areas, and more areas become available are you finish the quests. you can upgrade your health multiple times throughout the game, and you find new abilities and weapons very frequently.as crisp, detailed, and colorful as a 32-bit platformer could be, Tomba looks and plays great for its time, its pure fun. this is the Mario of the 32-bit era. and thats saying a lot. a classic in the strongest sense of the word. its a shame how much you have to pay for a copy of this fantastic game anymore, but its worth every penny. 5/5

5 out of 5 stars Great Game, bad price

This game is great, except for the fact that it is 2 years old. I mean, come on, this game already has a sequel out for it and it's still priced at 40 dollars. That's ridiculous! I guess I'll have to buy it at EBWorld or Best Buy

5 out of 5 stars The best game ever!
Cherub

I can say, in all honesty and truth, this is the best game I've ever played. Wheee! Tomba power! It's so addictive, I couldn't put it down once I picked it up! I mean, who couldn't love a green-pants wearin' pink-haired wild boy that goes around beating the crap out of evil pigs!! Yay! Buy this game! It's so rare to find these days, get it while you can!

5 out of 5 stars Tomba! For The PlayStation
Too Skilled

Tomba! is one beautiful platformer. I first played it a really long time ago on a demo disc. I knew I had to get the full game as the demo offered a lot to do and it made you want to do more. Fitting for any age and/or any gamer (or non-gamer), Tomba! is original, fun and addictive. I got 7 more Playstation classics to get, one of them being the sequel to this game (Tomba! 2). I feel that it's never too late to aquire (a) timeless (PS) gem(s).
