5 out of 5 stars Excellent solution for playing Xbox on PC monitor
Dave

This product does exactly what I anticipated. It allows me to play the Xbox using my PC monitor and speakers. The device is an all hardware solution, that once connected has a button to toggle the monitor/speakers between the Xbox and PC. Note that this device will also work with any other game console (Nintendo, Playstation) that outputs NTSC video.I use the device on a 19" Trinitron monitor and the video displayed from the Xbox is not quite as crisp and clear as when the Xbox is connected to my 27" TV. But I found the quality to be very good and many people may not notice that a regular TV provided a better image if the two are not directly compared. The bottom line is that a purist may be bothered by the difference in image quality, but it provides me a great alternative for playing the Xbox when my TV is being used by others, or when a TV is not available, e.g. playing Xbox System Link games (like Halo) at a friends house.

1 out of 5 stars Working is better than broken.

(first review)Simply put, this item was DOA, straight out of the box. I attempted all of the following as input devices:* Wii console* VCR* DVD playerand both of the following as displays:* 17" ViewSonic CRT monitor* 20" Samsung LCD monitorand regardless of the configuration I got the exact same result -- NO SIGNAL. I will attempt one exchange. If that one is DOA as well, I will get a refund.(after getting the replacement)I would like to amend a prior review where I gave 1 star, saying I would give 0 if I could, because it just didn't work. Well, the replacement does work, and I have successfully run the Wii through the analog port on my 20" LCD monitor. That's the good news. The bad news:* Piping sound through it is bad. Really bad. Tin cans and a string bad. Fortunately, you don't have to, and I don't any more. You just have to be inventive with your cabling.* The video quality isn't great, but this may be as good as it gets with composite. Results might be better with S-video, but I don't have anything that delivers that. I blame outdated standards here.* It doesn't drive 1024x768 like you may see in the specs, it drives 640x480. This makes the next point all the more confusing...* It doesn't work with my 17" CRT monitor, which I had intended to turn into a TV with this, a VCR, and a pair of amplified speakers. The monitor works fine on the analog port of the video card, so there's nothing wrong with it. It just doesn't get along with the Video Game Jockey. Also of note is that it sends an output signal even when there is no input signal.Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Works great to convert Directv composite video to VGA
Reusedmyoldmonitor

Bought this to be able to convert the composite video from my Directv box to VGA so that I could use an old computer monitor as my "TV." It does the job! No complaints.

1 out of 5 stars Burned out my monitor

When I connected this device between my X box and Sansung 21" svga monitor, the display would occasionaly blink from a black screen to the normal display about once per second. After 30 minutes, the monitor stopped working and is currently being repaaired. The service man said the box most likely was outputing incorrect voltages and/or frequencies to the monitor.

4 out of 5 stars A reasonable solution
Gerrick von Trier

The static on this device on the audio line is intolerable in my opinion. However, newer computer stereo systems, as well as radio shack, have a converter that goes from left right audio to 3.5mm stereo jacks. That solved the static problem by bypassing the device all together with some creative cabling. As for the video quality, it's not too good if your using a composite device. You'll imediately notice a flicker on straght lines and text that gave me a headache. However, if you are using an s-video cable (which is what I use for my ps2) then the picture is decent. Not the best product on the market, I'm sure, but a functional solution if your like me and don't always have a TV available.

1 out of 5 stars Please do not waste your money.

Simple and short. This product claims to provide superior video quality. IT DOES NOT!!! Very, very, very, very, very, very, very, poor video. Not what I expected at all. Someone must have already returned the item once because it shipped from Amazon's return dept. Well I am sending it back there!

5 out of 5 stars Great product !
Freeline Skater

This product is great! I hooked up the video / audio in in the right spots, yet the screen was flickering and wasn't clear. I think this is what may have happened to the previous reviewers and their bad responses.ANYWAYS, i went and bought a connector for the PS2, that had the same connections EXCEPT it had an S-video input instead of the video plugs. Once I hooked it up this way, everything was great and I have never had a problem.

3 out of 5 stars Depends on the situation
M. Henderson

The video game jockey works. With this device you can hook up any electronic device that has a composite or s-video output and use it to display on your computer monitor. However, it's not perfect. This device is ideal for people who don't have access to a television set. If you have access to a television, then I recommend you skip this device. Mainly because while it works, the results aren't too great.First of all, the picture quality is not good. Using a composite hookup will cause the picture to flicker, and it doesn't look very clear. Using an s-video connection will stop the flickering, but the sharpness in the picture quality doesn't improve by much. You'll have a much clearer picture using the composite and s-video hookups on a television set. Another problem is the setting are very limited. You only have the ability to adjust the brightness of the picture. However, the setting is very poor and you'll have problems getting the picture just right with the monitor settings. Either the picture is too bright or it's too dark. Also the lack of settings like adjusting the color, the contrast, etc really hurt this device.I also connected my computer through the Jockey and the picture quality also takes a hit for the worst. The sharpness isn't as clear, as a straight pc to monitor connection. The only good thing is the status setting, which allows you to center the picture on your Monitor. I didn't test the sound, but judging by other reviews the conversion isn't any good either.Bottomeline, I ended up sending this device back. I was looking for something that would let me enjoy my video games and other devices on my monitor and hopefully have a better image experience than what's on my tube television.Read more ›

4 out of 5 stars Not perfect, but very nice
Andrew Rochford

Overall, this headset is very well made. There are problems, though, and it's defintely not for everyone. For those seriously considering purchasing this, let me tell you what wont' get from this:1)Supperior sound quality. For me it sounds good enough, but there is a noticable hit in sound quality from even the regular XBox Live headset (at least through the earpiece). If you're looking for pristine sound, you should look elsewhere.2)Longevity. If you're the type that likes to game for hours on end, you might want to skip past this as well. The battery lasts between 6-7 hours. For some, that's more than enough. For others, this may not quite fit the bill. On the plus side, at most it only takes an hour and a half for a complete recharge.Other than that, I have to say it's a darn near perfect XBox headset. First thing to notice when holding it is the feel of the plastic used. It almost feels a little rubbery which greatly enhances its comfort level. Second is that it's pretty light. Considering it houses a Lithium-Ion battery, I would have expected it to be a bit heavier, but it's very nicely balenced. Third is that it's very comfortable to wear. I can't say enough how good it feels compared to other headsets and, for me, it stays put. Even after hanging my head upside down the headset stayed pretty much in place. And, lastly, the wireless capability. This, for me, was what really brought me to this headset. It's very nice to finally cut the cord from the controller. My only real gripe is that there is a constant "white noise" that will play through the headset even when nobody is talking. This again goes towards how much you want to sacrifce for the sake of a wireless headset. I don't find the noise overpowering, but it is there and for those who can't tune it out I can understand that it might become annoying.Basically, if you're crazy about going wireless to cut the hassle and mess of cords (like myself), this headset is great with a few drawbacks that show its limitations. If you're seeking perfection in sound, stick to the cords. Read more ›

4 out of 5 stars This Product Is Truely Great
Braden

This product i had doubts about with the single review, even though it was rated rather well.I got this product today and am extremly pleased with it. The one thing that bugged me with the standard headsets and caused a few of mine to break are because i'd hit the wire going from the controller to the headset and it would break off. With this no more wires and it couldn't be a more possibly comforable headset.Advantages-It's light and it fits to almost any ear by the way it is able to expand wider around the ear.-It's wireless that means no wires to mess with-Crystal Clear sound, i've heard people comment on how clear i sound-No big microphone, theres nothing sticking right in front of your face to speak into, it's a small little 3 inch microphone that doesn't even come close to your mouth but still picks up excellent soundDisadvantages-A very small kind of static noise taht i can hardly even hear when playing a game-Has a listed 6-7 hour battery i can't confirm that yet, but it does only take about an hour and a half to fully charge itThis product truely is amazing and i couldn't be more happy with it right now. I highly recommened it if you're looking for somehting that is sturdy and very well designed.

After I purchased (and fell in love with) my Logitech Wireless Controller, I realized that I HAD to purchase a wireless headset as the Controller doesn't have a place to plug a wired headset into. So, I dropped $80 into the Logitech Wireless Headset thinking that it would be as good as the Controller. Not so.Although it is designed well ergonomically, the audio had the same white noise and static and popping that other reviewers described (I have 900 MHz headphones that sound better!!). But the thing that made me return the Headset was not MY experience - it was how the unit affected the -other- gamers' audio. During most of my XBOX Live games, the other players would complain that my headset would interfere with their audio. It would apparently make everyone else's headsets echo and reverberate. Eventually they would apologize (or not) and simply mute my audio and few times I was kicked from the game entirely.$80 NOT well spent!!!I give this a one star rating because it's flaws made it unusable for 90% of my XBOX Live sessions.Sweet ergonomic design Logitech - but technically not ready for prime time...

4 out of 5 stars Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?
Tru Re-Vu by BQ

I have had this headset for about a month now, so I can't comment on long term reliability, but there are some things that I noticed within even the first hour of use that may help others decide whether or not to invest in this product, things that I didn't see in other reviews. Besides, this thing doesn't have that "flimsy" feel to it so it will last if you take care of it.The experts are now saying that gamers are great multitaskers, and you better hope they are right if you plan on getting this headset. There's no easy way to tell if the headset is muted or not. The OEM xbox communicator has a light on the controller insert that clearly indicates whether or not the mic is turned on and there's a volume dial. This Logitech controller insert does not have either; it has one light that seems to only indicate that it is plugged in. The volume control and a "multifunction" button are on the headset. The multifunction button powers the headset itself, and when it is on, toggles the mic muting. There's no way to tell if the thing is on mute other than trying to remember (short-term memory jokes aside, it's hard to remember after a 5 minute intense button-mashing battle) or asking the other person (after all, who wants to always be asking "can you hear me?").Volume control is acceptable because there are min and max tones, but still no mute tone. Not even a different light color for a mute status. It's very frustrating, I figure with time I will get better at remembering, because I just can't live without the mute feature.I operate this headset at full volume and its still barely loud enough to hear comfortably, especially when there's other background noise. One friend knew that I had gotten a new headset because I sounded farther away. If I push the earpiece toward my ear I it is almost too loud, so the low volume is probably due to my oversized ears, maybe it will fit your ear better.I use this unit with a 2.4 GHz wireless controller, so the receiver part that is usually plugged into the controller is actually right at the xbox itself. There seemed to be not as much interference when I was using a wired controller; I could walk into the other room with the headset on and not get any crackling. By the way, I have a wireless internet network as well, and I could be getting a lot of interference there, too. As it is, I can walk about 15 feet before the crackling becomes too bad to stand. However, the benefits of not being wired to the xbox outweigh the slight inconveniences of not knowing if your friend can hear you and some crackling. At least enough for me to stick with this setup. Overall, good Logitech quality and even if it's the only wireless xbox headset out there, it's ultimately up to you to decide if it's worth $60. If it lasts a while, it will be worth the investment to me. Read more ›

Nic3k

As many have noted, it took forever for this to be released; but now it's here. Have used it with a Yamaha electric piano, and it just works. There are almost no instructions, but all you do is plug the USB cable into your XBox (or USB hub, of course), and plug a MIDI cable from your instrument to the adapter. This has actually gotten me to start learning keyboards after many years of procrastination.Note that the adapter does not include a MIDI cable -- so be sure you have one.

5 out of 5 stars Works as advertised
shoebiedoo

Pros:Work seamlessly with the Roland TD9-SX. I was able to customize the Midi assignments (via the Roland) to use multiple cymbals. Much better trigger response that the ION drum rocker!I Highly recommend it!Cons (all minor):No "chat" headset connection. no wireless connection, doesn't come with a Midi cable and the instruction were fairly vague.

4 out of 5 stars Great Product
nba411

This works exactly like it's supposed to and is easy to connect. The bad news is that it is hard to find. If you have a midi compatible keyboard or guitar and really enjoy rockband then get it if you can find it.

4 out of 5 stars Does what it's supposed to, nearly perfect
Zane Geiger

I bought this specifically to use it with an Alesis DM6 drum set, so I can't speak for its performance with other MIDI instruments, but for the most part this works great. There is no noticeable latency and it works as advertised. The only problem I've had is that it sometimes messes up detecting a yellow + green cymbal hit. It either drops one cymbal or the other, or incorrectly adds a tom hit. This seems to be a known issue. It also sometimes drops a tom when hitting two at once. Besides those issues, it works fine.

5 out of 5 stars Works great!
Dan

Plugged into my Roland TD-6V V-drums and it was basically plug and play! I get some crosstalk between pads but I think that's a drum frame thing and not an adapter thing.

5 out of 5 stars Midi Adapter + YouRock Guitar makes this a whole different game
brian

With the untimely demise of the Fender guitar for RB3, I was stoked to learn that the YouRock Guitar (with the latest updated firmware) works as a MIDI controller for Rock Band Pro mode.Plugging this in and switching to Pro Guitar turns RB3 from a musical Simon-clone to a full music simulator. It's like going from Ridge Racer with a thumbpad to Gran Turismo 5 with a wheel and pedals. And RB3 has a complete guitar trainer too, which this combo of course fully supports.

5 out of 5 stars Yamaha DTXPress II with RB2 and RB3 (XBOX) - works perfectly.
Sean Welch

I have a Yamaha DTXpress II and use this along with a standard MIDI cable and XBOX Rock Band 2 & 3, and it works great. The only thing you have to do when using RB2 is swap the crash cymbals as they're mapped "backwards" - simplest way to do it is to just swap the cords (as opposed to re-mapping in the head unit).Much more satisfying than playing along with the stock Rock Band drumset.

5 out of 5 stars Works with many MIDI keyboards and then some
Damian Suarez

I've tested this device with the Xbox 360 version of Rock Band 3 along with three different midi keyboards, including a Wii Rock Band Keyboard, and they all work flawlessly. With a switch on the adapter, the game recognizes what instrument you plan to use for Rock Band 3, and the adapter translates all MIDI notes played into an acceptable note in the game. In the case of the keyboard, which was all I had to test, the game looks for some two octave range to play on, so keeping the default octave range on the midi keyboard is necessary. As for the "whammy", I only recognized the touch strip on my Wii Keyboard as a probable control for modulation, but I had to hold the overdrive button on my keyboard to use the touch strip which was a little bothersome. An overdrive button is included on the adapter, and it also comes with a belt clip, so playing the keyboard with the adapter hooked on my belt was comfortable...if the usb cord was long enough. If you plan to play in a theater or far away from the TV, make sure you get some usb extension cables. Don't worry about the required MIDI cable; you only need enough depending on the length from the instrument to your other hand to access the adapter's overdrive button, so get the smallest Male to Male MIDI cable you can find.As for those controls on the adapter, they're needed to navigate within the Xbox menu and throughout the Rock Band menus. In addition, the Xbox treats the adapter as a wired Xbox controller without triggers, bumpers, or analog sticks. I was able to get away playing a few Xbox Live Arcade titles which did not require those features (and not many do), so it's pretty versatile despite its primary goal being to emulate MIDI devices. If you have some sort of MIDI keyboard that is not officially for the Xbox 360 version of Rock Band 3 and want to play with it in game, and if you're missing a simple Xbox 360 controller, this adapter is worthwhile, especially while the game's still alive and knocked down in price. 4 out of 5 stars Finally, a truly worthy version of the NFL 2K2
Thomas Welsh

For those who have been afraid of buying the NFL 2K2 after being disappointed by the Dreamcast version, fear not! It seems that Sega Sports listened to the complaining fans and forced Visual Concepts to actually _improve_ the passing game, blocking, sound quality, etc.The original NFL 2K2 on the Dreamcast had the best pass coverage AI ever seen a football video game. Cornerbacks, linebackers, and safeties all intelligently reacted to passes thrown their way. They were good at zone, man, and 'bump & run' coverage. The XBox version continues this tradition, actually improving upon the original's already magnificent AI. Players in coverage are much more likely to tip passes than before. The only problem on the defenseive side of the ball is that Visual Concepts removed the 3 man fronts almost entirely. The running game is the best out there. Hands down. All the moves are effective, from the juke or spin to the stiff arm or shoulder charge. The blocking creates good holes to run through. The defense actually reacts realistically, making counters, cutbacks, draws, and reverses valid choices. Perhaps the best part of the running game are the 'get skinny' moves that ball carriers _automatically_ perform. This means that there is no longer the annoyance of getting stuck on your own blocker, feet churning yet going nowhere. The only problem with the original NFL 2K2 was the horrendous passing game (and ball security, but that's tied in). While VC had improved the animations over NFL 2K1, there were several problems with the passing and catching system that made the game almost unplayable for pass oriented teams: 1) The offensive linemen were incapable of holding blocks for longer than .0025 seconds with consistency. 2) Top tier receivers very often dropped passes. 3) Anyone but a top receiver did not have a preayer of making a catch. 4) Even after you finally were able to thread the ball through defenders' hands and your receiver was lucky enough to grab the ball, if he got hit within a full second after the catch you would see the ball lying on the turf.Thankfully, Visual Concepts has fixed this problem. Pocket passers can thrive behind a good offensive line, completing passes without thought, until the defense gets in the way. Low-rated receivers, such as tight ends, are much more likely to make completions, and the high-rated are just like they are in reality: hard for defenses to handle. Not too hard, though, due to the insanely good defenive AI. After intensive playtesting (Heh, I always wanted to say that.) I have found the only true problems with the passing game in 2K2, and VC should have little difficulty fixing them. I hope that Visual Concepts have already noted these problems themselves, and if they haven't...1) Receivers jog their routes. Either this is true or defenders can backpedal faster than Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, and Co. can run their routes.2) Quarterbacks do not lead their targets correctly, even when a receiver is _standing still_. For example, the Rams have a play where all 4 WRs go out 8 yards, stop and turn around. If you attempt to throw to them while they are standing still, Kurt will throw the ball about 3 feet over their heads. The WR will then dive for the ball. Yes, dive. As in towards the ground.3)The receiver logic is absolutely horrendous. Receivers like MARSHALL FAULK will, when they see the ball coming in a perfect spiral right towards their shoulders, dive off to the side to avoid coming in contact with the ball. It seems that the only functional routes are the straight line ones.People will respond to this game with cries of "But Madden has momentum based movement! It's more realistic." Momentum based movement is realistic - when it is implemented in a way that creates a modicum of realism. In Madden (and in Fever) it simly gets in the way, making reaction times slower and control more imprecise."But Madden has a better Franchise system!" You know what? They're right. The Franchise mode in the Madden games is MUCH bettter than in NFL 2K2. But which is more important: stat-tracking and resource management, or gameplay? Most would probably reply that gameplay is the most important part of any sports game, while all the rest are just extras."But Madden is more of a football sim!" I simply do not understand this 'argument'. The only way in which Madden is more of a football sim is in the franchise mode. True, there is no 3-4 set anymore, but look at how much the offensive side of the ball has been improved: the Rams have TWENTY-EIGHT (28) different formations to tear other teams apart with, not counting special teams, of course.Overall, the XBox version of NFL 2K2 is the game that we Dreamcast owners were hoping for when we first bought the original version - except for some parts of the passing game. Simply put, it is the best playing football game on the market. Better than Fever and better than Madden. However, I would recommend waiting for NFL 2K3, giving VC time to fix the only thing that needs fixing: the passing game. Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Blown Away
JRK

The first game I ever demoed on the Xbox was NFL Fever at one of those kiosks in Best Buy. I thought NFL Fever was pretty cool but it didn't make me want to buy it that instant. For months after Xbox was released, I read reviews, watched videos and looked at screenshots of Madden & NFL Fever, trying desperately to decide between the two. Meanwhile, a third football game comes on the market. They did a decent job with 2K1, the videos looked tremendous, and people were pretty optimistic about 2K2. This long time fan of EA Sports (NHL, FIFA, & Triple Play) decided to abandon Madden and give Sega a try.I am still blown away each time I play this game. I am so glad I decided to wait. I can't speak for Madden, but every aspect of 2K2 seems to be slightly to much better than NFL Fever. The graphics are lifelike, commentary is colorful and insightful, and the gameplay is the best. You can actually have a decent running game in NFL2K2, which has historically been tough to do in football games. How about an example that illustrates just how awesome this game is? I fumbled on the 20 yard line, picked up the fumble, and my running back takes it in to the end zone for a TD. The announcers actually made JOKES about how this could have been a designed play. I got a delay of game on the extra point because I sat there with my mouth agape. Even the instant replays are better than any other game I've seen. They swivel 360 degrees on catches and sometimes clip together several segments from different angles.I also wanted to take a sec to respond to a few of the negative reviews about this game. Someone commented that it is a strange menu interface. Different yes, strange no. It isn't that hard to get used to. It doesn't take any longer to cycle through menus than other games. Regarding the other review listing a number of negative things... I question this person's authenticity, as they wrote their review well before the release date of this game. Perhaps they are reviewing 2K1? It is simply not true that there aren't big hit replays, but they must be on a big play (sacks, 4th down stops). Players DO grip the ball well, the best I've seen to date. And as far as the comment regarding no helmet popping hits... perhaps you need to learn where the turbo and tackle buttons are, because my controller rattles non-stop when I'm on D.Get this, and prepare to be blown away. Now, my season calls... Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars NFL 2k2 vs. Madden 2002
"jctiny"

Madden vs. 2K2, which is better? In my opinion NFL 2k2 is better based on these facts. First of all, in 2k2 you offensive linemen actually make blocks that create a hole for your RB to run through, whereas in Madden that does not happen very often... In fact most of the time in Madden you usually end up going to the outside because there is no hole to run through. Also in 2k2 the running game is very realistic, as far as breaking tackles and juking defensive players. For example, a small running back rarely breaks a tackle from a 270 lb. linebacker who hits him square on, unless you can avoid the head on hit. However in Madden, any RB including small ones can break tackles regardless of the defensive mans size, it just looks fake because the defensive man will hit the RB and then just dive like he hit a brick wall and then slide to the ground. However in 2k2, if a tackle is missed by defensive man, he is thrown to the ground just like in real life. He'll hit the RB, fall and roll on the ground just like any real life missed tackle. Now as far as the passing game goes, once again 2k2 is better. First of all the catches look more realistic. The receiver actually looks at the ball and most of the time makes a real looking 2 handed catch. But in Madden, the ball just hits the receive and somehow it ends up in his hands. Finally, the Defensive AI is way better in 2k2. Linebackers actually read plays, they will stand their ground until they see will the play is going then attempt to prevent to play. For example if you do a dive between the Center and guard, a lineback will notice this and try to plug the hole.. unless he is blocked by your fullback. So overall, in my opinion 2k2 is better. Madden has a better interface and more options. But 2k2 gameplay is way better.

Get World Series Baseball (Xbox)

Description

In 2001, Sega and developers Visual Concepts--the same people who brought you the NFL 2Kx series and other sports games--turned out a solid console baseball game that was a major improvement on the previous version and the first with head-to-head Internet play. This version for the Xbox marks a similar leap in quality, combining some of the best features of its competitors into one well-considered whole. Alas, the only thing missing is Internet play. Going beyond motion-capturing batting stances (there are 89 distinct ones in here by my count), they've done a great job of animating pretty much every aspect of the game in pitch delivery, fielding, and base-running. The instant replay system, which borrows from and improves upon the one seen in the High Heat series, allows you to move the camera anywhere on the field to see the realistic movements at any speed. You can also use the feature to see the game's sophisticated artificial intelligence--for example, there's a brief, realistic delay when a player tags up from third on an outfield fly. There's also a solid pitching game that lets a starter like Tim Hudson get off without a shelling when pitching heat down the middle, but try it with a pitcher like Byung-Hyun Kim and you're bound to see different results. And the TV-style zone chart shows which locations each batter is best at connecting to and where your sequence of pitches has landed. A number of the new features are so obvious that you may wonder why you've never seen them before. One is a controller map in the pause menu that quickly shows you exactly which buttons perform the task you want. An option is also included that sets the relative speed of pitches to the plate. This really comes in handy when coming from another baseball game like All-Star Baseball 2003 where pitches seem to blur to the plate. To put it bluntly, the game has almost no downside. There are some very powerful GM and manager functions--including a fantasy draft and exhaustive franchise tools--though using them is somewhat counterintuitive. Stealing is kind of tough to pull off; in one game, Ichiro got caught twice out of three attempts. And, as stated above, there's no Internet play--but that gives us something to look forward to for next year. --Porter B. Hall Pros: Realistic player movement Smart AI TV-style zone chart marks hot and cold areas for each batter Variable pitch-appearance speeds Cons: No head-to-head play over the Internet

5 out of 5 stars Best Baseball Game for the X-Box
Ryan

Year two of my franchise and I'm having trouble stopping. After playing all three baseball games for the X-Box (Triple Play, ASB, WSB) I can say without thinking, WSB beats them both. Triple Play is just plain bad. ASB is very good, almost as good as WSB, but it doesn't offer as many features. Now, back to WSB. Fans of the 2k series of any sport will instantly be familar with the layout of the menus of the game, simple to navigate. I have yet to find a real flaw in the gameplay. It's very easy to pick up and play, the batting, pitching, and fielding all goes very well. The graphics are excellent, the player faces are copies of their real life counterparts. The commentary lives up to the standard that the 2k series has set so far.One of the games best features is it's franchise mode. For those of you that don't know, it really puts you in the game, you sign coaches, bump up the minor leaguers, sign free agents, and all very easily, not the same clumsy menus of NFL 2k2. I played two seasons as the White Sox, the first went pretty bad, but the second was half decent after I drafted some potential and made some trades. I also beefed up my pitching staff. It really makes you feel like you own the team.Lastly, for those of you who are very picky on accurate rosters, you'll be pleased. The rosters are, from what I've seen, accurate within very recently.Overall, this is the baseball game I'd recommend for anyone. If you have doubts, rent it first, but, you probably won't regret buying it.

This is basically a slightly enhanced version of World Series 2002 for the Sega Dreamcast. As such, if you liked WS2K2, you will like WS2K3. Others have focused on the many, many positives of the game (graphics, player animation, pitching control, franchise mode, etc) so I'm going to focus on the few aspects of the game that prevent it from being perfect:A) I realize that the developers wanted the graphics & animation to be silky smooth, and they are, but that hi-res visual goodness comes at the expense of fielding accuracy. I'll echo the complaint that double-play grounders that should be automatic are far too often not. I'm sorry, but Kevin Young hasn't been seen beating out a DP ball ever. Same goes for outfielders after catching a fly ball. The CPU AI is tight and will run on you at a moment's notice, but the throws from the outfielders are very slow to react when they throw to a base, thus giving an unnecessary edge to baserunners. Both problems would be solved by ironing out the "molasses effect" that restricts fielding.B) The commentary, while not often incorrect, is horribly bland. The play-by-play is strictly meat-&-potatoes stuff (name & position) and the color commentary is often too generalized and rote. Besides the opening of the game, and maybe during a relief appearance, the announce team will say nothing individualized about any of the players. And there is a glitch when it comes to CPU pinch-hitters: they are 100% always announced as pinch-runners by the color commentator (former SF Giant pitcher Mike Krukow). This might be being tough on the game, but a powerful next-gen console like the XBox deserves better than PS1-era play-by-play announcing. You'll be begging for NFL 2K2's cheesy announce crew by the time 9 innings are up.C) Make sure you know what base you want to throw to as a fielder, because once you press the button, that's where the throw is going. I have botched a few plays at the plate because at the time I caught it, the runner wasn't tagging, but then he decides to go, but the fielder will throw to whatever base you initially chose. In other words, there is no button override function. This goes similarly for baserunning: if you are halfway down the 1st-base line and push the button to go to second base, then decide against it, make sure you return to 1st base because the game keeps that first button press in memory, but luckily the baserunning allows you to return fairly easily.D) The graphics often fail to match up to the play being made. A runner attempting to steal might be called out merely because the throw was in time, though the tag was obviously (via replay) not applied at all. The fielders will occasionally pull a Matrix move and magically slide across the field on their feet to make a diving catch. Once again, it's not to much positioning deciding the catch, but general timing. Which again, might be harsh, but in a next-gen universe, these same old shoddy corner-cutting measures need to be cured, or we all might as well go back to MLB '99.Even with the small gripes, WSB2K3 is still far and away the best choice for baseball on the XBox. And perhaps because the game is so strong in most areas, it leaves itself open to minor criticism in lesser areas. Sorta like pointing out a handful of weeds on an otherwise lush, green lawn. I can only imagine if Sega remedies these small issues, we might be as close to perfection as possible. Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars EPIC BASEBALL GAME
J. Corlett

The much anticipated World Series BB2K3 is a phenomenal effort from Sega, and does not disappoint. The game delivers on all levels:>> Superb graphics: This game is rich in texture and the graphics are deep. There are hundreds of never seen before action sequences, highlights, play-making shots, slow-mo, instant replay, batting stances, authentic pitching motions, etc., you name it, Sega's done it.>> Realistic playability: On the "All-Star" mode, the game provides a solid challenge. There'll be close games, occasional blow-outs, hot streaks, cold streaks, etc., just like a season should be.>> Miscellaneous: Other options include -- Extensive franchise mode to test your managerial aptitude; Legend Mode where you can play with the likes of Cobb, Mays and DiMaggio; Create-a-Player mode (where you can choose gloves, shoes, sleeves, bat color, stance, power, speed, etc.); Season, Playoff, Quick Start modes; Home Run Derby ---- basically, there's enough exciting options for hours and hours of competitive fun.A must have for the baseball season ahead. A leap beyond WSBB2K and 2K1, and an eternity from half-inspired games such as All Star BB and Triple Play. Now get to it.

4 out of 5 stars Take Me out to the Ball Game
Lukas Haule

First off, the graphics in this game are UNBELIEVABLE. Birds fly through the outfield, the animations are awesome. Batters adjust their gloves and stance, fielders shift from foot to foot and kick up dust to dig their cleats in. This is by far the best looking baseball game I've ever played. The sound is also top notch. During a Yanks Red sox game in Boston a fan yelled "Jeter, if you retire you can spend every day with models!" simply amazing. The announcers are good, the sound effects are dead on, all and all a great presentation. As far as game play is concerned the game is great, fast and realistic. Everything is selectable, from turning the batters box on or off, three different pitch speeds, to making the pitching and umpires realistic or computery (ie make mistakes or not). The stat tracking isn't as robust as High Heat but they are serviceable, unless you really care about how many times your catcher threw out a base stealer, and what your pitchers WHIP was you won't bat an eyelash at the basic yet complete statistics WSB tracks. This is also made up for by the fact that this game has the best franchise mode EVER. I already have a season and a franchise saved on my Xbox HD, the franchise I only manage while the season I play all the games, both are fun, considering that there are some PC games which only offer management and are quite successful this is almost like having two games in one. My problems with the game are few: you can't warm up pitchers; no team/league creation other then fantasy draft (though if you really wanted to you could draft every team in the league to emulate your fantasy league, but this would take a LONG time and I wish there was a way to simply create custom teams or leagues); confusing menus which differ slightly from the other 2k games; and no season MVP/golden glove type awards.. The only reason I don't give this game five stars is because I think that Sega and VC and iron out some of these problems/omissions. All and all WSB is a great baseball game that plays at least as well as and looks a ton (A TON!) better then High Heat for PS2. In fact the only reasons one should ever buy High Heat are; if you're really really... really into stat tracking, or if you don't have an Xbox. WSB is by far the best baseball game on Xbox, and with its presentation and gameplay one of the best (along with High Heat and Saturn WSB) baseball games ever made. Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Perfect

i debated for a very long time on rather to purchase this one, or a cheaper non-micorsoft version. I end up deciding on this one due to the positive reviews, and i am very glad that i did.PROS:-arrived perfectly. the box was in perfect condition. the actual adapter was too.-incredibly easy to use. just hook it onto the back, and the xbox takes over. all you have to do is enter your wifi password. that is it.-it catches the signal. my wifi is pretty far away from my xbox. i was very worried i wouldn't get a good signal. but i get full strenth.-it isn't noticable. it hooks onto the back of the xbox, so it isn't distracting or ugly.CONS:-the price. it is steep price for what it is, but i purchased it for the peace of mind knowing that IT WILL WORK. that made it worth it.conclusion? yes. i would buy this again. it works beautifully.

4 out of 5 stars Works Great, By Why's It Requires At All?
John Bruce

This adapter does exactly what it promises. Dual-channel, great speed, the works; with this attached, my Xbox 360 is one of my fastest, most reliable WiFi N devices. It's way overpriced, but I guess that's the Xbox Tax.What burns me is that I have to buy this at all when I own an Xbox 360 Slim, which ostensibly ALREADY has WiFi N in it. But Microsoft skimped on the WiFi N that's built into the Xboxes; it's single-antenna-only and 2.4-GHz-only, so it's barely better than WiFi G. If you want any of the real benefits of WiFi N, you have to shell out for this overpriced adapter just like with the other Xbox 360 models. Which, again, works great, but boo on Microsoft for advertising WiFi N as a feature of the Slim and then barely delivering.

4 out of 5 stars Does what it needs to do.
hookworm

I was worried about speed and connectivity, but it works well enough (for me). I'm in a 1900 sq ft. house and my router is on the other side and up a level. The signal strength jumps around a bit. I would not recommend this for a basement to 2nd floor connectivity (just run a cable). I didn't have that option though. Happy gaming.

Plug and play. Nice strong signal from my wireless N router and game play is smooth. Saved me from running Cat5 to upstairs bedroom. Happy kids = happy dad.

Matt Giannoni

This was bought for my nephew. He digs it. He didn't want a Ethernet cord coming from the living room to his bedroom so we picked this up for him. Installed quickly and picked up the wifi right away. Speed off connection is great as well. Shipped fast, great price.

But, it does the job. Today I would buy an Xbox One and would not need it; but, if you are like me with an older Xbox 360, you may need this to game through a wireless network.

5 out of 5 stars Works like a charm

This one's a no-brainer. I plugged it into my XBox, turned it on, chose my wireless network and entered the password for it. Got right onto the network, easy peasy!

This works very well. It was plug and play and very easy to set up. I was able to use Xbox live functionality with no buffering or lag time. It works well when using the Netflix App and Hulu App. There was No picture or sound distortion
